    The Best Shrimp Pasta Recipe

Pasta and shrimp are delicious on their own, so when you combine them together you know the result is going to be off-the-chain good. And this shrimp pasta recipe is no exception to that rule.

This recipe brings pasta in a garlic cream sauce together with perfectly seasoned shrimp. The result is honestly a restaurant-quality meal the whole family will love.

In addition to tasting fantastic though, this garlic shrimp pasta also happens to be incredibly easy to make. If you have boxed pasta and a bag of frozen shrimp, you're well on your way to having all of the ingredients you need to make this shrimp pasta recipe for dinner tonight.

Plus, as I mentioned, just 4 steps and 25 minutes are all it will take to whip up.

Seriously, it's that simple. And, again everything for this creamy shrimp pasta cooks in just one skillet, so not only is the cooking process a breeze, but the clean-up is quick and easy too!

By the way, if you're looking for a few sides to make to go along with this amazing "main", I have a few really tasty suggestions. A few of my favorites to serve with this shrimp pasta recipe are this Italian cheese bread, this air fryer garlic bread, these honey glazed carrots, or these Red Lobster brussel sprouts.

You really can't go wrong with any of those options. It just depends on what kind of mood you're in.

Anyway, now let's move on to the ingredients you'll need to make this garlic shrimp pasta recipe!

An overhead view of serving bowls with homemade pasta shrimp with fettuccine noodles garnished with parsley and parmesan cheese.

    Ingredients

As I briefly alluded to, the ingredient list for this shrimp pasta is super simple. And I especially love how easy it is to customize! But I'll get into that later.

Now, you probably already have these ingredients on hand. But, if not, a quick trip to the store is all you need to get 'em.

Anyway, here's what you'll need to cook the shrimp:

    • 1 lb Large Raw Shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
    • Salt, to season shrimp

    And for the pasta:

    • ¾ lb Fettuccini Pasta
    • ½ onion, (medium), finely chopped
    • 2 tbsp. Unsalted Butter
    • 1 Garlic Clove, minced
    • ⅓ cup White Wine
    • 2 cups Heavy Cream
    • ⅓ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
    • ½ tsp. Salt
    • ¼ tsp. Pepper
    • ¼ tsp. Paprika
    • 1 tbsp. Parsley, finely chopped, to garnish

    Not too shabby, eh?!

By the way, you can use a lot of the same ingredients for the creamy shrimp pasta sauce to make this Olive Garden chicken alfredo and salmon pasta next. So, don't be afraid to stock up on some of these ingredients. You'll be able to make some more delicious pasta recipes later this week if you do.

    Ingredient Modifications

Now, as promised, I have a few tweaks that you can make to customize this garlic shrimp pasta recipe!

If you like spicy food, I highly recommend adding a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes. You could even add in diced jalapenos or use this firecracker shrimp to make this recipe!

Don't have white wine? Not a problem, you can substitute it for vegetable broth or chicken broth, and this dish will turn out just as delicious!

Also, don't worry if you don't have fettucini noodles. I've used angel hair pasta, spaghetti, and penne pasta in this dish before, and it turns out just as delicious!

Oh, and feel free to add some veggies to this dish! My favorite additions are some broccoli and spinach.

Lastly, feel free to use fresh shrimp or frozen shrimp. I personally like to use frozen shrimp, so I can buy a big bag and use it for other recipes.

And if you buy more shrimp than you need for this garlic shrimp pasta recipe, you can totally use your extra shrimp to make this Red Lobster shrimp scampi or this chicken and shrimp carbonara.

    Now, let's get cooking!

A countertoo with multiple bowls containing raw peeled and deveined shrimp, fettuccini noodles, onions, garlic, olive oil, parmesan cheese, and various spices.

    How To Make Shrimp Pasta

As I've mentioned a few times, this recipe for shrimp pasta is super easy to make.

    I promise.

Seriously, you'll only need one pan to cook the shrimp and sauce, and almost the entire recipe is hands-off cooking. So while everything is cooking, you can make one of those delicious sides I mentioned earlier.

Now, let's stop wasting time and dive into this garlic shrimp pasta recipe!

A pot with boiling water cooking fettuccini noodles.

    Step 1: Prepare the Noodles

First, get the fettucini noodles cooked according to the package instructions.

Then, when it's time to drain the pasta, I like to reserve a couple of tablespoons of pasta water to add back into my noodles. This will help the sauce stick to the pasta noodles when it's time to add everything together.

Also, one more tip, if the noodles are done before the rest of the dish, you can add a drizzle of olive oil to the finished noodles to help them not stick together.

Oh, and while the pasta is cooking, you can prepare the rest of the components for this shrimp pasta recipe.

A pot with hot oil cooking shrimp.

    Step 2: Cook the shrimp

Now onto the shrimp. First, put a non-stick skillet on the stovetop set to medium-high heat, add a bit of olive oil, and add the shrimp in a single layer.

Season one side of the shrimp with some salt, and cook the shrimp until they turn a vibrant pink color and have a slightly crisp crust.

Then, flip the shrimp and repeat by adding a sprinkle of salt. Cook the shrimp until they turn pink and crispy on the other side. Once the shrimp are cooked, you can set them aside.

A hot pan with cooked veggies, cooked shrimp and heavy cream.

Step 3: Build The Creamy Sauce

Now, in the same pan you just cooked the shrimp in, you're going to make the creamy sauce that will coat the shrimp pasta. To make the sauce, add the onion, butter, garlic clove, and white wine to the skillet. Now cook everything for about 10 minutes on medium heat, mixing the ingredients around every once in a while, so they don't burn.

Next, add in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese, and stir to combine until everything is smooth and the sauce has thickened.

A pan with onion, garlic, and shrimp with garlic cream sauce reducing.

Step 4: Complete The Shrimp Pasta

Finally, it's time to complete this shrimp pasta recipe!

Once the noodles are cooked, add them to the sauce along with the cooked shrimp and stir to coat everything in the sauce.

Next, season everything with a dash of salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes - if you want some spice.

Finally, plate everything up, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve warm and enjoy!

How To Store Garlic Shrimp Pasta

This recipe for garlic shrimp pasta will make about 2 large servings or 4 small servings. So, if you think you'll want more, just double or triple the recipe.

In addition to tasting delicious right out of the gate, this shrimp pasta dish also makes for excellent leftovers, so don't worry about making too much.

You can store your leftover garlic shrimp pasta dish in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to 4 days.

    How to Reheat Shrimp Pasta

To reheat this garlic shrimp pasta recipe, my favorite way is to put everything back in a skillet and reheat it on the stovetop. It gives the pasta an almost crisp texture like this fried spaghetti, and it's just so good!

So, to reheat it on the stovetop, just add everything to an olive oil-seasoned skillet set over medium heat. Then, heat everything for a few minutes, constantly stirring the pasta until it reaches your desired temperature.

Alternatively, you can pop it in the microwave and heat it in 30-second increments, stirring between each one, until thoroughly heated.
