The Best Denny's Pancake Recipe
This Denny's pancake recipe gives you those classic diner-style pancakes at home. And, honestly, you won't be able to tell the difference between these homemade ones and the ones that are served at the restaurant. Just like my Denny's French toast!
These buttermilk pancakes are so rich, fluffy, and addictively delicious that you'll never want to make any other pancakes again. But if you do, you should totally make my churro pancakes or bananas foster pancakes because they are straight fire.
Anyway, I've been making this Denny's pancake recipe almost every weekend since I discovered it, and my wife simply can't get enough of it. Even our daughter loves these pancakes - so I've got a feeling if you make them once, the entire family will love them and request them every weekend! Plus, they go great with this air fryer turkey bacon, breakfast sausage, or million dollar bacon, and eggs for Denny's grand slam at home!
By the way, if you want to combine two of the best American breakfast staples, you can use these pancakes to make this McDonald's McGriddle as well.
Ingredients
Now, the best part about this Denny's pancakes recipe is that you can make them with common pantry staples.
The only thing you might need to pick up is the buttermilk. And trust me, you don't want to leave out the buttermilk. It's what makes these pancakes so rich and delicious.
Anyway, here's everything you'll need for this pancake batter recipe:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 large egg, slightly beaten
- 3 tablespoons canola oil (vegetable oil works too)
- About 1 ½ cups buttermilk
- Maple syrup and butter for serving
So, I bet you have the majority of these ingredients at home. And if you do, you can use them to make these McDonald's biscuits next. Another great breakfast addition!
By the way, if you want to make pancakes without milk, you can use almost all of these ingredients to make my no milk pancakes. And if you want to make pancakes without baking powder, check out this pancake recipe without baking powder.

How to Make Denny's Pancakes
As I mentioned earlier, the process of making these pancakes couldn't be any simpler. It's just an easy pancake batter recipe that you can whip up in no time.
Even if you've never made pancakes before, you'll find it to be easy, and they'll turn out incredible.
Now, with all that said, gather the ingredients, and let's make some Denny's pancakes!
Step 1: Mixing The Ingredients
To start, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda to a large bowl and mix them together.
Next, whisk the egg, oil, and buttermilk in a separate bowl to fully combine.
Now, add the wet ingredient mixture to the bowl of the dry ingredients and mix until everything combines and no flour streaks remain.
By the way, be careful not to overmix the batter - it should be lumpy and thick.
Now, once you have the pancake batter, let it rest for about 5 minutes. And do not skip letting the batter rest - it gives the pancakes their incredible texture.
Step 2: Cooking The Buttermilk Pancakes
While the pancake batter is resting, heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Then grease it with some baking spray and scoop about ¼ cup of batter onto the skillet. Oh, and this recipe makes about 12 pancakes, so you'll have to cook them in batches.
Anyway, you'll want to cook the pancakes for about 1-2 minutes on each side until they're golden brown. You'll know when to flip the pancakes when bubbles first form and pop.
Lastly, serve them up with a slab of butter and a drizzle of maple syrup on top, and enjoy!
How To Store and Reheat Pancakes
As I just mentioned, this Denny's pancakes recipe will make about 12 pancakes. And if you're making them for a family breakfast or brunch, I doubt that there will be any left!
But if there are, you can either wrap them in plastic wrap or tin foil or store them in an airtight container. Then, the pancakes will last in the fridge for up to 3 days.
And if you want to keep them for longer, flash-freeze the pancakes on a baking sheet until solid. Then, put them in a freezer bag, and they will last in the freezer for up to 3 months.
If you want to reheat these Denny's pancakes, you can either use the microwave, oven, or toaster oven or put them back on a non-stick skillet.
Wrapping It All Up
Well, that is how to make Denny's pancakes at home with simple baking ingredients!
These Dennys pancakes have the most perfect texture and unbelievable flavor that you just can't get in any other pancake recipe.
Anyway, I hope you like this Denny pancake recipe as much as my family and me.

Delicious! But I think someone messed with the recipe. It only says 1/4 c buttermilk.
Wendy
I NEVER have luck with homemade pancakes, NEVER. I made these for dinner last night (don't judge) and hubby said they were the best ever! I had a little trouble because my batter was crazy thick, like brownie batter. I did have to keep adding buttermilk and even a little half and half. I was worried because that meant stirring more and I was afraid they'd be tough. They weren't. I did alter the recipe just the slightest by adding vanilla.
Jo
