MY TAKE ON CHICK FIL A COOKIES
We all know that Chick Fil A makes iconic chicken nuggets and chicken sandwiches. Buuuut, if you have a bit of a sweet tooth like me, then you simply can’t miss their chocolate chunk cookies.
They’re soft and chewy, have just the right amount of sweetness, and are extremely generous when it comes to the chocolate chunks - basically every chocolate lover's - and cookie lover's - dream!
So, if you’re itching to try a Chick Fil A chocolate chip cookie but don’t have one near you - or if you just want to recreate them at home - then you’ve come to the right place.
This copycat Chick Fil A cookie recipe has chunks of rich, melty chocolate in a deliciously chewy cookie with slightly crisp edges and the most delicious flavor.
The best part is they're ready in under 30 minutes and just 3 steps are all you have to follow to make 'em.
Fair warning though - once you make these, you won’t want to make chocolate chunk cookies any other way.
Oh, by the way, if you want to make yourself a full Chick Fil A meal, you can make this chicken noodle soup, these chicken nuggets, or this spicy southwest chicken salad and then have the cookies for dessert!
INGREDIENTS
One of my favorite things about making this recipe is that it takes only a few kitchen staples to put together. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if you have almost everything on hand already - I know I usually do.
Anyway, here’s what you’ll need to make 'em:
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup oat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cups dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 stick butter (room temperature)
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
Not too shabby, eh?
By the way, if you end up with some extras of the ingredients you can use almost all of them to make these milky bar cookies, these Ghirardelli chocolate chip cookies, or these chocolate marshmallow cookies. So, put 'em to good use and give one of those recipes a try.
HOW TO MAKE CHICK FIL A COOKIES
Again, these Chick Fil A cookies are surprisingly easy to make for how amazing they taste.
Plus, this recipe needs no chilling which means they’ll be ready in no time!
Ok, I won’t make you wait much longer, so let’s gather up the ingredients and dive into the recipe!
STEP 1: PREPPING THE INGREDIENTS
First things first, you’ll want to preheat the oven 350º F (175º C). Then, line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Next, you'll want to whisk the flour, oat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl to combine, and set it aside.
Then, in a separate mixing bowl, cream the brown sugar, granulated sugar, butter, honey, and vanilla together with a hand mixer or stand mixer. At this point, the mixture should have a grainy consistency, but the butter will be evenly mixed through.
Anyway, to that bowl, you can add the room temperature egg and beat it until well-combined.
STEP 2: MAKING THE COOKIE DOUGH
Now, add the prepared dry ingredients to the creamed batter and mix everything together thoroughly with a rubber spatula. By the way, make sure to use a rubber spatula to scrape any batter accumulating on the edges back into the bowl.
Once everything is mixed well you can add and fold the chocolate chunks into the cookie batter. Be sure to reserve a few pieces of chocolate to embed into the tops of the cookies as they bake. Doing this will give your cookies the picture-perfect look that the Chick Fil A's cookies have.
HOW TO FREEZE COOKIE DOUGH
Now, if you prefer your cookies freshly baked - but don’t want to finish them up just quite yet - you can actually freeze the individual cookie dough balls and store them for later.
To do that, form the raw cookie dough balls as instructed (with the additional chocolate chunks on top) and arrange them on a lined freezer-safe tray.
Freeze them until they’re solid throughout. Then, transfer 'em to a freezer-safe-bag and freeze them for up to 3 months.
When you’re ready to bake them, you can thaw the dough balls in the refrigerator overnight and follow the instructions as normal or bake them from frozen at 330º F (165º C) for 15-20 minutes.
STEP 3: BAKING THE COOKIES
Now, when your cookie batter is ready, use a 2" cookie scoop to make the cookie dough balls and arrange them on the lined baking sheets. The scoop will make a ball that’s around 70g or ¼ cup in size.
By the way, make sure to separate the dough balls by at least 3 inches on the sheet so that they don't stick to each other when they flatten.
Once you've got the dough balls sorted, you can add the remaining milk chocolate chunks to the tops of them.
Finally, bake the cookies for 11-13 minutes - or until the cookies are set. You’ll know they’re ready when the edges or bottoms of the cookies are golden. If you used a smaller cookie scoop, keep an eye out as the cookies will bake a little faster. Oh, and once the cookies are done, set them on a cooling rack for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy 'em!
HOW I RECOMMEND STORING THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
So, this recipe makes about 20 cookies. And they’re a pretty generous size so there’ll be plenty to go around and to save for later!
As far as storing them goes, just make sure to keep your extras in an airtight container or sealable bag. Stored either of these ways they will last for around 2-3 weeks at room temperature.
Alternatively, if you want to store some for even longer, you can freeze them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
Well, that’s how to make Chick-Fil-A's cookies!
As far as chocolate chunk cookies go, these have basically become one of our favorites to make. They’re just so quick and easy to make with a flavor that you just can't get from any other homemade cookie.

Chick Fil A Cookie Recipe | Copycat Recipe
This Chick Fil A cookie recipe makes some of the most addictive chocolate chunk cookies you’ll ever have. They’re soft, chewy, and filled with ooey gooey chunks of chocolate. Best of all, they’re ready in under 30 minutes!
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 11 minutes
- Total Time: 21 minutes
- Yield: 20 cookies 1x
- Category: Dessert
- Method: Oven
- Cuisine: Chick Fil A
Ingredients
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (325 grams)
½ cup oat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cups dark brown sugar (263 grams)
¼ cup granulated sugar (69 grams)
1 stick (8 tbsp) salted butter (room temperature)
3 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoons vanilla
1 large egg (room temperature)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks (divided)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350º Fahrenheit. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, oat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- In a mixing bowl cream the sugar, brown sugar, butter, honey and vanilla together. You can use a hand or stand mixer. This mixture will be grainy, but the butter should be evenly mixed.
- Add the egg to the bowl of creamed ingredients and mix well.
- Add in the dry ingredients to that bowl and mix until combined, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks (reserve a few to top).
- Scoop out the cookie dough with a 2" cookie scoop. I like to make each cookie dough ball about 70 grams (¼ cup) each which makes a nice big sized cookie like the restaurant has.
- Place the dough balls 3" apart on the prepared sheets. Press a few of the chocolate chunks into the top of the dough balls.
- Bake for 11-13 minutes or until the cookies are set. If the cookies are smaller than 70 grams each, you'll bake them for less time.
