    The Best Lasagna Fritta

The lasagna fritta from Olive Garden is in one word, magical.

It's one of my favorite dishes, and this homemade lasagna fritta is as good as the one from the restaurant!

It has bite-sized cheesy lasagna squares that are coated in a crispy breading that gets fried to golden perfection.

And to top it all off, the lasagna frittas are served on top of creamy alfredo sauce for a flavor combination you can't get anywhere else.

Honestly, this fritta recipe has to be one of the best Olive Garden recipes we've done on the blog! It's right up there with this chicken and shrimp carbonara.

By the way, this fritta recipe is a fantastic meal with some garlic bread, but I also love serving it as an appetizer.

They're just so great to pick at, and everyone always loves them!

    Ingredients

Another reason to love this lasagna fritta recipe - along with how delicious it is - is that it uses all simple ingredients. And if you don't have them, they should all be easy to find at the grocery store!

Take a look at what you'll need for the lasagna:

    • ⅔ cup milk
    • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
    • 6 oz ricotta
    • ¼ tsp white pepper
    • 1 tbsp butter
    • 7 lasagna noodles
    • Marinara sauce
    • Alfredo sauce

    And for the Breading:

    • ¼ cup milk
    • 1 egg
    • 2 cups Italian breadcrumbs

Just so you know, you can use any kind of milk that you want for the lasagna and noodles.

And for the Alfredo sauce, you can either buy the pre-made kind in the jar or make this vegan alfredo sauce or the Alfredo sauce from this chicken and shrimp alfredo recipe!

A bowl with a mozzarella cheese ball in it, a bowl of ricotta cheese, a bowl of Parmesan cheese, a bowl of breadcrumbs, an egg, a jar of tomato sauce, and a picture of water all on a gray counter.

How to Make Lasagna Fritta Like Olive Garden

Alright, so this recipe is far easier than it looks, and you can make these little bites of deliciousness in just 45 minutes. It's another one of those relatively easy recipes that still allows you to show off some cooking skills.

With that said, grab your ingredients, and let's fry some lasagna!

Hand holding a spoon spread in cheese filling on a rectangle of lasagna noodle on top of two pieces of paper towel on a wooden cutting board that is on a gray counter. Next to that is another rectangle of lasagna noodles also on the paper towels.

Step 1: Making the Sauce & Noodles

First, add the butter, white pepper, milk, parmesan, and ricotta cheese to a pot.

Stir everything together and allow it to come to a boil.

While you're waiting for that to boil, cook the lasagna noodles as directed on the package.

Once the lasagna noodles are cooked, spread a thin layer of the boiled cheese mixture on top and fold it into 2-inch pieces.

Then, wrap it in parchment paper, put it on a baking sheet, and place something heavy on top to keep it sealed. Freeze this for 1 hour to let it set.

Five folded rectangles of lasagna noodle on a piece of parchment paper on a baking tray and a gray counter.

    Step 2: Breading the lasagna

Once the hour is up, take the lasagna out of the freezer and cut the pieces in half the long way.

Now whisk the egg and milk together in a bowl, and add the breadcrumbs to a separate bowl. To make the breading process easier, use one hand for the wet ingredients and one for the dry.

Coat each piece of lasagna in the egg/milk mixture, then cover it completely in the breadcrumbs.

Seven rectangular pieces of uncooked lasagna fritta in a line overlap in one another on a rectangular played on a gray counter.

    Step 3: Frying the Lasagna

Next, heat a deep frying pan with oil to 350°F (180°C). Add a few pieces of the breaded lasagna to it and fry for about 4 minutes until golden brown.

Once fried, transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain the excess oil. Then spread the Alfredo sauce on the bottom of a plate and put the lasagna fritta on top.

Finish it off with a drizzle of marinara sauce and enjoy!

Tongs holding a piece of lasagna fritta over a pot filled with oil with two other pieces of lasagna Frida in it.

    How to Store Lasagna Frita

This lasagna fritta recipe will make about 4 servings.

If you're planning on making it for dinner or for a large group, you'll want to double or triple the recipe. With that said, if you have any leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3-5 days.

But for the best leftover experience, I recommend freezing the lasagna fritta.

To freeze it, put it on a baking sheet once it cools and freeze until solid. Then, transfer to a freezer-safe bag or airtight container, and it will last for up to 3 months.

Oh, and if you want, you can also freeze the uncooked lasagna fritta the same way!

It makes for an excellent make-ahead meal. Then whenever you want to eat it, let it thaw in the fridge and then cook as described above.

A white plate that is filled with two rows of three pieces of lasagna fritta on it.

    How to Reheat Lasagna Fritta

My favorite way to reheat the lasagna fritta is in the oven.

Spread out the refrigerated or frozen frittas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and warm at 350°F (180°C) for about 10 minutes or until they reach your desired temperature.

And you'll want to add a little more time if you're starting from frozen.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that is how to make Olive Garden's lasagna fritta at home in just a few simple steps!

These crispy, cheesy, and flavorful bites of pure deliciousness are such an indulgent treat to make for an appetizer or dinner. And they seriously are as close to the lasagna fritta Olive Garden makes as you can get!

With that said, I hope you enjoy this lasagna fritta recipe as much as I do.
