Anyway, if you're new to baking bread at home, this pressure cooker bread recipe is the best place to start, so let's get into it!
Ingredients
What I love most about this homemade bread recipe is that it requires no special ingredients.
Everything it calls for I guarantee you already have at home, except for maybe the yeast.
Here are all the ingredients you need:
- Just under 3 ¾ Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 Packet Dry Instant Yeast
- Just under 1 ½ tsp. Salt
- 1 ¼ cup Water
And if you have these ingredients, you can use all of them - except the yeast - to make these Easy Biscuits next!.

How to Make Instant Pot Bread
Ok, so the process of making this bread in the Instant Pot is surprisingly simple. Of course, you will have to knead the bread, but that's the only active part of this recipe!
The rest is letting the bread cook, and you can do whatever you want while you're waiting, like make some Cauliflower Soup for dipping the bread in.
Anyway, gather all the ingredients you need for this Instant Pot bread recipe, and let's get to cooking.
Step 1: Preparing The Dough
Start with mixing the flour, dry yeast, and salt in a large bowl until everything is combined.
Then make a hole in the middle of the dry mixture and add the water.
Next, use a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients until they have fully combined. And make sure to use a wooden spoon - using a metal spoon can cause the yeast to react.
Once the ingredients combine - and separate from the bowl - transfer the dough to a flat, floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes. Use the heels of your hands to push the dough down and outward. Then fold it and repeat the kneading action.
When you're done kneading the dough, transfer it back into the mixing bowl and cover it with plastic wrap.
Then allow the dough to proof for 2 hours or until it doubles in size. And here is a trick you can do to tell if the bread is done proofing.
Step 2: Cooking the Bread in the Instant Pot
Once the bread is proofed, place the metal grid attachment in the Instant Pot and pour in ½ cup of water.
Then, make a ball with the dough and grease a baking mold that will fit in the Instant Pot and that the dough ball will fit in.
Place the mold with the dough ball in it in the Instant Pot and cook at low pressure for 50 minutes. Once 50 minutes is almost up, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190°C).
Step 3: Crisping The Bread in the Oven
After the bread cooks in the Instant Pot, I like to bake it in the oven to make the crust perfectly crispy and golden. It gives the bread that bakery-like texture that is just so good.
So, bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until it is golden in color.
Finally, take the bread out of the oven, slice it up, and enjoy!
What To Eat With Instant Pot Bread
This Instant Pot bread is delicious on its own or just enjoyed in a classic way with some butter or jam.
But I think it is even better when you pair it with a main dish.
Here are a few of my favorite meals to eat with this bread:
- Clam Chowder
- Fried Spaghetti
- Chicken Bryan
- Corn Chowder
- Split Pea Soup
- Creamy Polenta
- Japanese Curry
- Lamb Vindaloo
How to Store Instant Pot Bread
This Instant Pot bread recipe will make one loaf of bread. And, honestly, it is so great to make and then have on hand for the week to use in a variety of ways.
With that said, if you have any leftovers, you can store your leftover bread in an airtight container - or sealable plastic bag - at room temperature for up to 4 days.
Freezing Homemade Bread
By the way, freezing your Instant Pot bread is an excellent option if you want it to last longer.
If you are freezing the entire loaf, first let it cool, then wrap the bread tightly with plastic wrap and either wrap it again in aluminum foil or transfer it to a freezer-safe sealable plastic bag.
Then whenever you want to defrost the bread, just transfer it from the freezer into the fridge and let it thaw overnight.
And to warm it up, just pop it in the oven at 380°F for about 3-5 minutes, or until warm.
Wrapping It All Up
Now you know how to make easy homemade bread!
This Instant Pot bread is so much fresher than a loaf you can buy from the store, and the time it takes to make it is so worth it.
You can eat it with breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a snack! And everyone in your family is sure to love it.
