    The Best Grinder Sandwich

Ok, so if you haven't seen this grinder sandwich recipe that blew up on TikTok you must be living under a rock. I mean, this sandwich has been popping up everywhere!

While there are millions and millions of views of grinder sandwich recipes on TikTok, I think I've mastered the perfect balance of flavor in a grinder sandwich. You'll know what I mean when you take your first bite.

Also, This is the perfect recipe to make quickly for a quick lunch, a meal you can bring on a family picnic, or a casual dinner with the family. Anyone who tries it will be wowed by the amount of flavor this grinder salad sandwich brings.

Now, of course, every sandwich needs a side. So, try pairing your grinder sandwich with a pickle and some chips, our air fryer tortilla chips, or even this fried yuca!

The best part, this grinder sandwich recipe uses easy-to-find ingredients and only takes about 10 minutes to make.

    Ingredients

So, as I mentioned, the ingredients for this cold sandwich are simple grocery items and they're very easy to find.

That's why this sandwich is so fantastic, you take simple ingredients, dedicate 10 minutes, and you get the most delicious sandwich ever!

Anyway, here are the ingredients needed to make the Grinder salad:

    • ¼ cup Mayonnaise
    • 1 tbsp. Red Vinegar
    • 1 tsp. Dried Oregano
    • 1 tsp. Garlic, minced (or garlic paste)
    • ½ tsp. Red Pepper Flakes
    • ⅓ cup Parmesan Cheese, shredded
    • Salt and Pepper
    • 1 ½ cup Iceberg Lettuce, shredded

And the ingredients needed to build the grinder sandwich:

    • 2 Italian Bread Loafs
    • Cooking Spray
    • 4 Slides Colby Jack Cheese
    • 4 Slices Parmesan Cheese (shave the Parmesan block with a peeler)
    • 8 Salami Slices
    • 8 Capocollo Slices
    • 8 Turkey Bread Slices
    • 4 Prosciutto Slices

Now, I know there are countless variations of this sandwich, but trust me this is by far one of the best tasting - and easiest - versions on the internet.

By the way, once you make this sandwich, you can make any substitutions for ingredients you'd prefer and really stamp your signature on this sub sandwich.

Oh, and if you want to add a little more authentic Italian flavor to your Grinder salad dressing ingredients, you can add in some Italian seasoning too. Honestly, this recipe is so flexible that once you build your grinder salad sandwich, you can sprinkle it with a little extra Italian seasoning for good measure.

Oh, and a note on the parmesan cheese, you can use grated parmesan cheese, but I find that the freshly shaved parmesan tastes better - even though it adds a little prep time. You can also use provolone cheese instead of Colby Jack, or really any cheese you prefer.

Alright, now there's only a few more minutes standing in the way of you and this Italian grinder sandwich, so let's get going on the steps you'll need to follow to make it!

    How to Make Grinder Sandwich

Now, keep in mind this sandwich is really flexible when it comes to the process of making it.

And this recipe makes 2 grinder sandwiches, so you can either eat one and save one for later, enjoy both, or offer it to anyone else who's around after you make it!

Ok, enough talking, let's make this news-style hero sandwich!

A close up of a small bowl with mayonnaise, red pepper flakes, salt, and grated parmesan in it.

Step 1: Make the Grinder salad Dressing

First, you're going to make the dressing for the grinder salad.

Start by mixing the mayonnaise, red vinegar, dried oregano, garlic, red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.

    Step 2: Prep Work

Once the grinder salad dressing is completely combined, add the shredded iceberg lettuce to the bowl and mix so that the iceberg lettuce is completely covered in the dressing. Now you can set the bowl aside for the next step.

Next, take the hoagie roll, cut it in half lengthwise, and spray it with cooking oil.

After that, place the cheese slices on one side of the Italian bread roll. Then, broil in the oven - or toaster oven - for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is slightly crispy.

Step 3: Build the Grinder Sandwich

Lastly, you can build and complete this grinder sandwich.

First, layer all the meat on top of the cheese side of the roll. Then, top it off with the grinder salad that you made earlier.

To finish up, close the sandwich, place it on a plate, and enjoy it immediately! And feel free to slice it in half for an easier eating experience.

How to store the Grinder Sandwich

So, we all know that sandwiches don't store very well and this one is no different.

If you're planning to store this sandwich for an easy grab-and-go lunch, the best way to do it is to prepare the grinder salad dressing and keep it in the fridge. It'll last in the fridge for about 3-4 days.

Then, when you're ready to eat a sandwich, build the sandwich as described above.

Having the dressing premade saves a little time and allows you to make a fresh sandwich on the spot in about 5 minutes!

    Wrapping It Up

It's a deliciously satisfying sandwich that has that flaky crusty bread, savory cold cuts, a soft bite of cheese, and a creamy salad topping. Honestly, it's everything you need in a sandwich and more!

And because it only takes 10 minutes to make 2 servings of the best sandwich ever, it's a no-brainer addition to your weekly recipe rotation.
