    The Best Turmeric Rice Recipe

    This turmeric rice has a vibrant yellow hue and a delicious blend of flavors. The rice is infused with turmeric and cinnamon, and then it's served with some crushed nuts and fresh parsley to take it to a whole nother level of deliciousness.

    Honestly, it's one of the best spiced rice recipes you'll ever make.

    It's seriously so good, and you can either eat it alone as your main dish or serve it on the side with a variety of foods.

    For a complete meal, it goes terrific with this shrimp curry, Japanese curry, and lamb vindaloo. Or you can eat it alone with something like these Jamaican fried dumplings or this Turkish bread.

    Indian cooking uses healthy, wholesome ingredients, and this rice is no exception.

    Here's what you'll need to make golden rice:

    • 2 cups Basmati Rice
    • 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
    • ½ tbsp. Turmeric
    • 1 Cinnamon Stick
    • 1 Bay Leaf
    • 4 cups Chicken Broth
    • Salt
    • 1 tbsp. Nuts, chopped
    • Fresh Parsley

    How To Make Turmeric Rice

    1. Prep: Rinse the basmati rice under cold water in a fine mesh sieve. Add the olive oil, turmeric, and cinnamon to a large pot set over medium heat.

    2. Cook the rice: Add the rice to the hot oil and cook for a couple of minutes, just until the edges start to turn translucent.

    3. Boil the rice: Add the chicken broth and as much salt as you want to the pot and bring everything to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat, partially cover the pot, and cook for 15 minutes.

    Tips To Make The Best Recipe

    • Rinse the rice before cooking to remove any excess starch.
    • Use any long grain rice in place of basmati rice. Jasmine rice, brown rice, or yellow rice all will work great.
    • Swap the chicken broth for vegetable broth to make vegan turmeric rice.
    • Cook the rice with onion and garlic to add savory flavors.
    • Top the cooked rice with pistachios or pine nuts for an added crunch and flavor.

    How To Store Turmeric Rice

    In the fridge: Store the leftover turmeric rice in an airtight container in the fridge for about 4 days.

    In the freezer: Transfer any leftover rice to a freezer-safe bag or container and you can freeze the rice for about a month.

    Reheating: Put the rice in the microwave with an ice cube to keep it from drying out and heat in 20-second increments until warm. Thaw the frozen rice in the fridge or add extra reheating time.

    Ingredients
