    The Best Turmeric Rice Recipe

This turmeric rice has a vibrant yellow hue and a delicious blend of flavors. The rice is infused with turmeric and cinnamon and then it's served with some crushed nuts and fresh parsley to take it to a whole nother level of deliciousness.

Honestly, it's one of the best spiced rice recipes you'll ever make.

It's seriously so good, and you can either eat it alone as your main dish or serve it on the side with a variety of foods.

For a complete meal, it goes terrific with this shrimp curry, Japanese curry, and lamb vindaloo. Or you can eat it alone with something like these Jamaican fried dumplings or this Turkish bread.

And for an authentic Indian meal, you can serve it with this chicken 65.

Anyway, something I love about this recipe is that the rice is actually really simple to make. All you really have to do is add everything to a pot and let it cook. So, if you've been looking for an easy rice recipe you've come to the right place.

Another thing to love about this turmeric rice recipe - besides how easy it is to make - is all of the health benefits that come along with making it. Turmeric comes from a plant in the ginger family, and it's primarily grown in India.

Some of the many health benefits of turmeric include it being anti-inflammatory, high in antioxidants, and it can help delay aging and fight against chronic diseases.

So, not only are you getting a delicious rice dish, but you're getting a bunch of benefits too.

With all that said, let's see what the ingredients are to make this turmeric rice.

    Ingredients

Ok, so this spicy rice recipe is made with some super simple ingredients.

Here's what you'll need to make it:

    • 2 cups Basmati Rice
    • 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
    • ½ tbsp. Turmeric
    • 1 Cinnamon Stick
    • 1 Bay Leaf
    • 4 cups Chicken Broth
    • Salt
    • 1 tbsp. Nuts, chopped
    • Fresh Parsley

    Pretty simple, right?

Now, if you don't have basmati rice, any long grain rice will do the trick. For instance, jasmine rice, brown rice, or yellow rice all will work wonderfully to make this recipe too.

As for the nuts, pistachios and pine nuts go really well in this turmeric rice recipe, but you can use anything that you want!

Oh, and chicken broth can easily be substituted for chicken stock or vegetable broth as well.

    How to Make Turmeric Rice

Ok, so cooking rice from scratch is typically a kind of challenging task. But this recipe makes perfectly cooked rice in only a few really easy steps.

So, even if you've never made rice from scratch before, you'll find this process to be quite simple.

    Step 1: Prep work

First, add your basmati rice to a mesh sieve and rinse it with water.

Then take out a large saucepan, put it over high heat, and add the olive oil, turmeric, and cinnamon to it.

Next, add the basmati rice and give it a stir to combine it with the turmeric and cinnamon. Now cook for a couple of minutes, just until the edges start to look translucent.

    Step 2: Cook The Rice

Next, add the chicken broth, bay leaf, and a pinch of salt to the pot of rice and bring everything to a boil.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, partially cover the pot and cook everything for about 15 minutes. You'll know the rice is finished cooking when it's fluffy and slightly tender.

    Step 3: Garnish and Serve

While the rice is still warm, serve it out into individual dishes.

Then, top the rice with some fresh nuts and parsley, and enjoy!

    How To Store Turmeric Rice

This turmeric rice recipe will make about 3 cups worth, or around 4 -5 servings if you're eating it as a main dish. And if you're eating it as a side, it'll be about 6-8 servings.

So, there's a good chance you'll have plenty leftover to enjoy throughout the week! And if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for about 4 days.

With that said, if you want to keep it for longer, you can freeze the rice for about a month.

    How To Reheat Cooked Rice

This turmeric rice is actually really good eaten cold in this salmon rice bowl.

But, if you want, you can also reheat it.

One way to reheat the rice is to put it in the microwave with an ice cube to keep it from drying out in 30-second increments until heated.

Another way - my favorite method - is to put the rice in a skillet set over medium-heat with a dash of oil in it. Then, all you'll want to do is heat the rice for a few minutes, constantly stirring, so it doesn't burn. Warming it up this way will give the rice a fried rice texture that is just so good.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that's how to make turmeric rice from scratch in just 20 minutes.

This delicious rice recipe is not only quick and easy but it's packed with tons of nutritious flavor as well.

I can almost guarantee that if you make this turmeric rice once you'll want to make it over and over again!
