The Best Cream cheese Sausage Dip

This delicious cream cheese sausage dip recipe makes for the ultimate party snack or appetizer, and it practically goes with everything from tortilla chips to fresh bread and more.

Honestly, this creamy sausage dip could make anything taste great! I mean, it's got the perfect balance of flavor, and it's chock-full of savory ground beef, zesty Rotel tomatoes, and some tangy cream cheese. What's not to love about that?

Plus, in addition to tasting great, this sausage cheese dip also happens to be a breeze to whip up. You basically just cook the sausage, then combine it with the rest of the ingredients. The whole dish comes together in about 10 minutes flat, and you barely have to lift a finger!

By the way, since this creamy, cheesy dip recipe comes together so quickly, you'll have plenty of time to make some other dips to go with it, like this Chipotle guac, this Rotel dip, or this cream cheese dip. Also, all of them are terrific with these air fryer tortilla chips.

    Ingredients

Another thing I love about this cream cheese Rotel sausage dip recipe is that the ingredient list could not be simpler. In fact, I'm willing to bet you already have most, if not all, of the ingredients you'll need to make it on hand already!

Anyway, here's everything you'll need to make it:

    • 16 oz. cream cheese
    • 1 tsp. olive oil
    • 1 lb. Jimmy Dean sausage (I like the hot flavor)
    • 14.5 oz. can Rotel
    • Tortilla chips or desired chips for dipping
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

    See, simple stuff, right?

By the way, if you have any sausage, then you absolutely must try this easy sausage balls recipe next! It's a family favorite game day snack recipe. And if you have extra cream cheese, you have to whip up these cream cheese chicken enchiladas!

An assortment of ingredients including bowls of cream cheese, crushed tomatoes, and raw ground beef.

    Ingredients Additions and Substitutions

Now, of course, I think this sausage cream cheese dip tastes perfect with the exact ingredients above. But, with that said, there's definitely room to modify the ingredients to suit your preferences or at least save you a trip to the grocery store.

For instance, if you're running low on cream cheese, then you can swap it with equal portions of sour cream or even Greek yogurt. Or, if you want to make a lighter version of this recipe, then you can use reduced fat cream cheese instead of full fat cream cheese.

Also, if you want to add anything to spice up this recipe, you totally can. I suggest either adding some chopped green chilies to the mix or swapping the regular sausage for hot pork sausage or spicy Italian sausage.

How To Make Cream Cheese Sausage Dip

I know I said this before, but it's worth mentioning again, this cream cheese sausage dip could not be any easier to make!

I mean, it's hard to beat a recipe that requires only 5 ingredients and just a couple of steps, right?

Anyway, let's stop wasting time and get cooking!

Cooked ground beef with cream cheese and crushed tomatoes in a skillet with a wooden handle.

    Step 1: Cook The Sausage

So, to get started, you'll want to grab a large skillet, or pot, add some oil to it, and set it over medium heat. Then, after you've got that set, you can add your ground sausage to the hot skillet. Just make sure to remove the casing from the sausage before you start cooking it.

Now you'll want to break up the sausage with a wooden spoon and cook it until it's browned on all sides. This should only take a few minutes, and the sausage will continue cooking a little later on.

Step 2: Add The Cream Cheese And Rotel

So, once the sausage is nicely browned, you can drain the excess grease from the skillet and stir in the cream cheese and Rotel tomatoes.

Then, after you've added those ingredients, you'll want to cook 'em together until the cream cheese is melted and everything combines together.

Step 3: Season And Serve The Dip

Last but not least, give the sausage dip a taste and add some salt and pepper to it if necessary.

Then, you can transfer your finished dip to a serving bowl and serve it warm with some tortilla chips, veggies, or crackers and enjoy!

How To Store Sausage Cream Cheese Dip

This recipe for sausage cream cheese dip makes about 6 servings, which should be just enough to serve as an appetizer to a large group of hungry guests. If needed though, you can easily double or triple the recipe - you may just need to add a little cooking time if you do!

Then, if you have any leftovers, you can transfer the cooled cream cheese sausage dip to an airtight container and store it in the fridge for 3-4 days.

How To Reheat Sausage Cream Cheese Dip

When you're ready to enjoy this delicious cheese dip again, it's definitely best reheated.

So, to reheat your sausage cream cheese dip, I recommend putting it back in a skillet - or pot - over low heat. Then, you can heat it for a few minutes, frequently stirring it until it's warmed through.

Alternatively, to reheat your dip faster, you can put the dip in a microwave-safe bowl and heat it in 20-second intervals. Just make sure to stir the dip between each interval until the cheese has melted and the dip is warm and smooth.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that's how to make sausage dip with just a handful of ingredients and only a few minutes worth of work!

Honestly, out of all the savory cream cheese dip recipes you can make, I really think this one is one of the best ones out there. From the mouthwatering meat to the rich cream cheese, it's just so, so addictive.

Honestly, this dip is a hit with everyone - except vegetarians, of course - whenever I serve it. So, I have a feeling everyone you make it for will love it too.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this easy dip recipe as much as I/we do.
