Ingredients You'll Need
One of my favorite things about this cream cheese dip is that it's made with kitchen staples. I almost always have each and every one of the ingredients needed for it in my fridge at any given time.
Anyway, here's everything you'll need to make it:
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2-3 green onions, finely diced
- 4 tbsp. fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp. fresh dill, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp. Dijon Mustard
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. pepper
- Crackers, chips, or fresh cut veggies to serve
Super simple stuff, right?
Now, of course, I think this cream cheese dip tastes perfect with the exact ingredients above. But, with that said, there's definitely room to modify the ingredients to suit your preferences, or at least save you a trip to the grocery store.
For instance, If you don't have sour cream, then you can swap it with equal portions of Greek yogurt.
Also, if you want to add something else to this dip recipe you totally can. A few things I like to add to it are crumbled bacon bits, sliced jalapeños, a little onion powder, and garlic powder. Sometimes I'll even top it with some cheddar cheese and give it a quick melt in my oven.
If you like your cream cheese dip to be a little spicy, I suggest either putting out a bottle of hot sauce with it or mixing in a couple of tablespoons of hot sauce right into the dip itself.
By the way, if you already have cream cheese, then you're well on your way to being able to make this cream cheese fruit dip. So, if you're hosting and in need of a sweet dip option, give that one a shot.
How To Make Cream Cheese Dip
As I've mentioned a couple of times, it's really, really simple to make this sour cream and onion cream cheese dip.
Seriously, it only takes a minute or so to make and then you can either serve it immediately or chill it in the fridge. That means you can make the dip in the morning before your guests arrive and then uncover it and have it ready as soon as they walk in the door!
Anyway, let's stop wasting time and make this cream cheese dip, shall we?
Step 1: Combine The Ingredients
Now, you have a couple of options when it comes to mixing up your cream cheese dip. You can mix all of the ingredients in either a food processor, high-speed blender, or the bowl of a stand mixer - it's up to you - but I think the food processor is definitely the quickest and best way to make this dip.
Anyway, you'll want to add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, diced green onions, dill, parsley, salt, pepper, and dijon mustard to the food processor and blend everything together until it's perfectly smooth. Also, I recommend stopping halfway through blending to scrape down the sides of the food processor and then continue mixing from there to form the dip.
Step 2: Serve the Cream Cheese Dip
So, now that you've fully mixed the cream cheese dip, you can either serve it immediately or refrigerate it until you're ready to serve it.
Then, once you're ready to serve your cream cheese dip, you can just transfer it to a medium-sized bowl and put it out alongside some crackers, chips, bread pieces, fresh cut veggies, or really anything else you can think of. Enjoy.
How To Store The Dip
This recipe for cream cheese dip will make about 4 servings or 1 medium-sized bowl of dip. Honestly though, I wouldn't expect a bowl of this dip to last more than a couple of minutes once you put it out in front of a bunch of hungry guests. That's how good this dip is!
With that said, you can easily make a double - or triple - batch of this cream cheese dip, that way, you are guaranteed to have some leftover dip.
Speaking of leftover dip, you can store any leftovers that you have in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Oh, and if you want to make it ahead of time, you can whip up this easy appetizer and store it the same way.
My Final Thoughts
Well, that's how to make cream cheese dip in just 2 simple steps!
I know I'm biased, but I think this is one of the best - if not the best- cream cheese dip recipes you'll ever make. It's just so rich and creamy, and it's jam-packed with savory yumminess. It'll be the talk of the party if you serve it as an appetizer or game-day snack, and everyone is guaranteed to love it!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this dip as much as I do.
As always, if you give this recipe a try, then be sure to leave a comment below and let me know how it went.
