    The Best Smoked Tuna Dip

When it comes to making an easy dip that tastes delicious every time, you can't go wrong with this smoked tuna dip recipe. It honestly might be one of the best dip recipes I've come up with, and I've been making a ton of 'em lately.

I mean, this smoked tuna dip just has the perfect balance of creamy, savory, spicy, and smoky flavors. And it makes the perfect party appetizer - or light snack - since it's so easy to make. Seriously, all you have to do to make it is mix up the cream cheese and mayonnaise together, then add in the spices and tuna and give everything a mix.

Then, once it's mixed and ready to go, you can set it out with some pita chips, celery sticks, saltine crackers, or really anything you can think of. Honestly, it goes great on just about anything.

By the way, since this tuna dip takes less than 5 minutes to make, you'll have plenty of time to make these air fryer tortilla chips to go with 'em. We always seem to make 'em when we make this recipe, and they're a hit with our guests everytime.

    Ingredients

This recipe for smoked tuna dip comes together with just a couple of really simple-to-find ingredients. In fact, I can almost guarantee that you have most, if not all, of them at your house already since they're all kitchen/pantry staples.

Anyway, here are all of the ingredients you'll need to make this dip:

    • 4 oz. cream cheese
    • ½ cup  light mayonnaise
    • 8 oz. canned tuna, packed in water, drained
    • ½ tsp liquid smoke
    • 1 tsp Tabasco sauce or desired hot sauce
    • ½ tsp cajun seasoning
    • ½ tsp smoked paprika
    • ½ tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 2 tbsp chopped spring onions or chives

    Pretty simple, right?!

By the way, if you have any leftover canned tuna after making this dip, you can use the rest to make this tuna and rice recipe. It's another one of my favorite tuna recipes, so I definitely suggest trying that out next.

An assortment of ingredients including bowls of mayo, canned tuna, cream cheese, spices, two lemon halves, and salt and pepper shakers.

    Ingredient Substitutions And Suggestions

While I recommend making this smoked tuna dip with the ingredients listed above, there definitely are some exciting ways you can switch up this recipe.

So, with that said, I'll go over some suggestions below.

Swap Liquid Smoke For Worcestershire Sauce

This classic smoked tuna dip recipe is made with liquid smoke to give it that smokey flavor. But, if you don't have any liquid smoke - and you don't feel like running to the store - you can use Worcestershire sauce instead. It'll slightly change the flavor of the dip, but it will still be just as delicious.

Use Fresh Tuna Or Canned Smoked Tuna

This smoked tuna dip recipe uses canned tuna since it's so convenient, but you could also use fresh albacore tuna - just make sure to cook it first.

You could also use canned pre-smoked tuna to make the dip. Just keep in mind if you use smoked tuna, you'll want to avoid adding the liquid smoke.

How To Make Smoked Tuna Dip

As I mentioned earlier, it couldn't be easier to make this smoked tuna dip recipe. Everything comes together in one bowl, and you basically just mix the ingredients together. I'm not kidding, It's really that easy.

So, let's stop wasting time and get into the recipe!

    Step 1: Combine The Ingredients

First things first, you'll want to grab a large bowl and cream together the cream cheese and mayonnaise. And you can either do this with an electric mixer or just a rubber spatula. With that said, to make this step easier, I recommend using softened cream cheese. So, just let it sit out at room temperature before making the dip, or pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds to soften it up.

Anyway, once you've got those 2 ingredients all mixed up, you can add the liquid smoke, hot sauce, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, and lemon juice to the bowl. Then, you can mix all of the ingredients together until they are smooth and fully combined.

    Step 2: Add The Tuna

Once your cream cheese mixture is nicely combined, you'll want to pop open the can of tuna and pour out the excess liquid. Then, you can add the tuna to your bowl and season it to taste with salt and pepper.

Next, stir everything together until it combines and you have a smooth dip.

Step 3: Adjust The Seasonings And Serve

Now that the smoked tuna dip is nice and smooth, you can give it a taste and adjust the seasonings as necessary.

Finally, you can garnish your smoked tuna dip with some fresh green onion or chives and serve it.

    Enjoy!

How To Store Smoked Tuna Dip

This recipe for smoked tuna dip makes about 4 servings, so it's great as a light appetizer or a quick snack.

That said, if you're planning on wanting any leftovers, I highly recommend making a double - or triple batch - of this recipe. Making more adds almost no extra prep time, and the dip tastes terrific the next day.

Speaking of leftovers, you can store any leftover tuna dip you have in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Then, whenever you want to eat it, you can just take it out of the fridge and enjoy it cold.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that's how to make smoked tuna dip!

I know I'm a bit biased, but I seriously think this is the best smoked tuna dip ever. I mean, it's so perfectly balanced in texture and flavor, and I just love that it comes together in one bowl and in less than 5 minutes.

It's been a family favorite of ours for quite some time now, and I can almost guarantee it'll be one for yours too.
