The Best Fudge Pie
This chocolate fudge pie is by far one of my favorite pie recipes to make. And the reason I think that is because I'm a huge chocolate lover, and this pie always hits the spot.
So, if you love chocolate, I've got a feeling you're going to love this old fashioned chocolate pie too.
Oh, and not only does it taste delicious, but it's a breeze to make. Just 3 simple steps are all you have to follow to make it. Not to mention, everyone who tries it will think you got in from the best bakery in town!
Seriously, this fudge pie is such a crowd pleaser. It's the perfect pie to make for Thanksgiving, a holiday celebration, or a get-together. Really no matter the occasion, this chocolate pie is a hit time and time again.
By the way, if you are making this for after Thanksgiving dinner, you have to make this easy pumpkin custard pie or sweet potato pie too. Either is the perfect pair for the fudgy pie for a balance of flavors.
Or if you want to go chocolate overload, you can make this no bake chocolate pie with an Oreo pie crust.
Anyway, let's get into the ingredients you'll need to make this old fashioned fudge pie.
How to Make Fudge Pie
So, this chocolate fudge pie uses super simple ingredients to make. And you probably have most of them in your kitchen already!
Here's what you'll need to make it:
- 12 tbsps. Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- ⅓ cup All-Purpose Flour
- ½ tsp. Salt
- ⅓ cup Cocoa Powder
- 1 tbsp. Vanilla Extract
- 3 Eggs
- 1 9-inch Pie Crust
- Powdered sugar to top
See? Not bad, right?
So, if you have to run to the store for anything, my bet is on the premade pie crust. But, if you want, you can always make one from scratch too. It just adds a bit of time & effort to the process of making this chocolate pie.
With that said, I usually like using storebought pie crusts. It just cuts down on prep time, and it simplifies the baking process too. Plus, sometimes I even switch things up and use a store-bought graham cracker crust to add a different flavor profile to the fudge pie.
By the way, you can use a lot of the same ingredients I used for this recipe to make these double chocolate cookies. They're honestly another one of my favorite chocolate desserts.
How to Make Chocolate Fudge Pie
So, as I mentioned before, this fudge pie is actually super easy to make!
And the recipe will make about 8 slices of pie, so there will be plenty of pie for everyone.
Now, without further ado, let's get baking!
Step 1: Prepare the Fudge Filling
First, you're going to start by preheating the oven to 350°F (180°C).
Then, add the melted butter, sugar, flour, salt, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and eggs to a large bowl.
Now, mix with an electric mixer until the ingredients are combined, and they form a creamy filling.
Step 2: Build the Pie
Next, grease a 9 inch pie plate, lay the pie crust over top, and use a fork - or your fingers - to pinch the edge of the dough.
Then, top the uncooked crust in the pie plate with the fudge pie mixture, and bake it for about 30 minutes - or until the filling is set and the pie crust is golden brown.
Step 3: Top and Serve
So, once the chocolate fudge pie is cooked, let it cool completely on a cooling rack.
Then, to finish it off, sprinkle the pie with powdered sugar or some whipped cream, slice it, and enjoy!
How to Store Chocolate Fudge Pie
As I mentioned, this fudge pie will make about 8 slices, depending on how you cut it. And if you serve it to a group of people, there's no doubt that the pie will be gone.
But, if for some strange reason you do end up with leftovers, you can store them 1 of 2 ways. You can either store the entire pie dish wrapped with plastic wrap in the fridge or you can store individual slices in an airtight container in the fridge for about 2 days.
Also, for what it's worth, this chocolate fudge pie is absolutely delicious served cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. In fact, that's my preferred way to store it.
By the way, if you want to store it for even longer, you can transfer the pie to the freezer and store it for up to 4 months in there.
Wrapping It All Up
Well, that is how to make fudge pie in just 3 simple steps.
It's the perfect pie recipe to have in your back pocket when you're craving chocolate, need to balance out the dessert table, or just want to impress your guests.
