My Take On Hershey Sundae Pie
This ultra-rich and decadent pie is my go-to dessert when I want to make something I know everyone will love.
I mean, I haven't met anyone who doesn't like a chocolate cream pie, and the cream cheese chocolate mousse filling in this recipe brings your typical chocolate pie to a whole new level.
Along with being delicious, this Hershey's sundae pie is super simple to whip up. I use a pre-baked pie crust for my chocolate pie, and no one has ever known the difference! It cuts the prep time in half, and I don't have to worry about another step to making this delicious dessert.
Since it's so easy, I always make this recipe for Thanksgiving and other Cunningham family get-togethers. It's become our family chocolate pie recipe, and I know your family will love it too!
Why You'll Love This Recipe
It saves time. Because this pie needs to chill in the fridge, it's the perfect no bake recipe to make the night before your party! Just make the pie and let it refrigerate overnight, then the dessert will be ready to go the next day.
It's a winning combination. The smooth and creamy pudding texture, with the rich, decadent chocolate flavor on top of a crumbly and buttery crust. It's a match made in heaven.
It's beyond easy to make. All you have to do to make this pie is a little mixing. Even if you've never made a chocolate pie before, you'll find this recipe to be a breeze!

How To Make Hershey's Sundae Pie
1. Combine: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, Cool Whip, and vanilla extract. Mix well until everything is smooth and combined,
2. Fill the pie crust: Pour the cream cheese mixture over the pre-baked pie crust and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours or until the filling sets.
3. Cook the pudding: Combine the chocolate pudding mix and milk in a pot set over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, for a few minutes until it thickens.
4. Refrigerate: Pour the thickened pudding mixture on top of the pie in an even layer. Put the pie back in the fridge and refrigerate again until it's firm and set completely.
5. Top and enjoy: Top the chilled pie with whipped cream and chocolate chips just before serving and enjoy!
My Tips To Make The Best Recipe
- I like to use full fat cream cheese for a super rich and creamy pie.
- I've made this pie with a graham cracker crust and crunchy chocolate crust before. I can't decide which version I like best. They're all so good!
- When chilling the pie, be sure that your pudding is completely set before serving. There's nothing worse than a runny pie. I know it's hard to wait, but be patient!
- If you're short on time, or if you just like it better, you can totally use a no-cook instant chocolate pudding mix!
How I Recommend Storing This Pie
In the fridge: This pie will keep really well in the fridge for up to 4 days. Just be sure to keep it covered. Your pie crust may come with a plastic lid for you to use!
In the freezer: Wrap the pie in plastic wrap or store slices in a freezer-safe container for up to 6 months. Make sure to thaw the pie in the fridge overnight in the fridge before enjoying it.
