Ingredients
So, you really only need 1 ingredient for this recipe, and the rest of the list can be as minimal - or extensive - as you want!
Of course, it all depends on what you like to stuff in your baked potatoes after they air fry.
Here's everything you'll need to make a classic loaded baked potato:
- 3-4 Russet Potatoes
- Salt and Pepper
- 2 tbsp. Butter
- 2 tbsp. Sour Cream
- ¼ cup Crispy Bacon
- Chives, chopped
As you can see, I used russet potatoes for this recipe, but you can also use Yukon gold potatoes or even sweet potatoes, and they'll turn out just as delicious!
Now, this is everything that I think makes the best baked potatoes. But you can take away, or add in, anything else that you want - like some shredded cheddar cheese or peppers.
By the way, you can use all of these ingredients to make these twice baked mashed potatoes and cheesy mashed potatoes, so you'll definitely want to check those out next!
How to Make Baked Potatoes in Air Fryer
Ok, so the process of making baked potatoes in the air fryer could not be any easier. And the result is potato perfection every time.
So, even if you've never made baked potatoes before, they'll turn out restaurant-quality.
Now get out the ingredients, and let's get cooking!
Step 1: Prep
Before anything else, preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180°C).
The first thing you'll want to do is clean the medium potatoes, dry them off, then prick them with a fork on every side. Oh, and this recipe calls for 3-4 potatoes, but you can make as many or as little as you want!
Next, put the potatoes in the air fryer basket. The number you can put in will depend on the size of your air fryer basket, just make sure potatoes are lying flat.
Then spray them with cooking spray - I used avocado oil, but if you don't have avocado oil, anything will work - and sprinkle sea salt and pepper.
Oh, and if you're wondering should baked potatoes be wrapped in foil, you don't have to for this recipe! Leaving them uncovered is actually what makes the texture/skin so good.
Step 2: Cooking & Serving
Now that the potatoes are good to go, air fry them at 350°F (180ºC) for 25 minutes.
Then when the time is up, take the potatoes out and make sure they're fork tender, then let them cool for a few minutes
Once they're cooled, cut them lengthwise and open the baked potato in half. Either leave the inside how it is or break it up to make a puree.
Finally, top with butter, sour cream, crispy bacon, and freshly ground black pepper - or any of your favorite baked potato toppings - and enjoy!
What to Pair With An Air Fryer Baked Potato
While these homemade baked potatoes can be satisfying and filling on their own, they make an excellent side and go super well with a ton of different dishes!

To store, let the baked potatoes cool completely, and then either put the
m in an airtight container - preferably a glass dish with a cover - or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or tin foil.
Then you can store any leftovers in the fridge for 3-5 days. Just make sure that you don't put any toppings on the baked potato before storing it!
