The Best Stuffed Ziti Fritta
The stuffed Ziti Fritta is a unique and utterly delicious Olive Garden dish that my family loves to get when we go there. It includes ziti - or rigatoni - noodles that are stuffed with three kinds of cheese, then coated in an Italian breading that crisps up to golden perfection.
So, that's why I decided to bring the recipe to the blog! This ziti fritta recipe has all the tasty tastiness of the Olive Garden's ziti fritta, and it's super easy to make too. Just 3 simple steps are all you have to follow to make it!
How easy does that sound?!
And for the full stuffed ziti fritta Olive Garden experience, serve it with a side of alfredo sauce or marinara sauce and some of this garlic bread or cheesy bread.
Ingredients
Ok, so the ingredients you need to make this Olive Garden stuffed ziti fritta recipe are pretty simple. And I highly recommend using all of them to get that one-of-a-kind taste that you get at the restaurant.
Anyway, here's everything you'll need for the stuffed ziti fritta:
- ¼ cup ricotta
- ¼ cup Parmesan & Romano shredded
- ¼ cup cream cheese softened
- ¼ cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1 tablespoon basil chopped
- ½ box Rigatoni or Ziti pasta
And for the breading:
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups Italian breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup Parmesan grated
Then to complete the recipe:
- ¼ cup alfredo sauce or marinara sauce
Now, my favorite part about this recipe is stocking up on the ingredients and being able to use them for two more beloved Olive Garden recipes.
You can use almost all of the same ingredients to make this lasagana fritta and these giant cheese stuffed shells! And just like this stuffed ziti fritta, those two recipes are spot on to Olive Garden's.
How To Make Stuffed Ziti Fritta
Step 1: Prep Work
First, we'll make the creamy and cheesy filling for the pasta.
For the filling, add the ricotta, parmesan, cream cheese, mozzarella, and basil to a bowl and mix well to combine.
Then, transfer it to a ziplock bag and refrigerate.
Next, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta of your choice - either the ziti or rigatoni- according to the package directions.
Step 2: Filling & Breading The Pasta
Once the pasta is cooked and cooled, you will fill it.
Cut the tip of one of the corners of the ziplock bag to create a makeshift piping bag, and fill each noodle with the refrigerated cheese mixture.
After all of the pasta is filled, it's time to bread them.
First, combine the eggs and Italian seasoning in a bowl, and then combine the breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese in a second bowl.
Now, dip the stuffed pasta in the egg first, and then thoroughly coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat with every noodle and set aside.
Step 3: Frying The Pasta
To fry the cheesy stuffed ziti fritta, heat about ½ cup of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat to 350°F (180°C).
Once the oil is hot, fry the breaded noodles until they are golden brown on each side.
Then, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate and drain the excess grease.
Serve the stuffed ziti fritta with alfredo sauce or marinara sauce, and enjoy!
How To Store Fried Ziti Fritta
This recipe will make about 4 servings. So you'll have plenty for a family dinner or appetizer for a group.
If you end up with any leftovers -which is hard to believe- you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3-5 days.
And then if you want to reheat the fried ziti fritta, the best way is in the oven. Put it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and warm at 350°F (180°C) for about 10 minutes or until it reaches your desired temperature.
