The Best Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread

Seriously, this pumpkin cream cheese bread is extraordinary!

Now, you've probably had pumpkin bread before, but you might not have heard of pumpkin cream cheese bread. So, if you haven't, then allow me to explain what it's all about.

This recipe makes a moist pumpkin bread that would be delicious on its own, but then it's filled with a rich cream cheese mixture before baking and topped with cinnamon sugar.

Honestly, after you make this, you'll never want to go back to normal pumpkin bread recipes.

Now, the best part about this pumpkin bread recipe is that even though it may sound complex, it's really quite simple to make. Just a few simple steps are all you need to follow to make it. And, if you have all of the ingredients typically used to make classic homemade pumpkin bread - pumpkin puree, flour, sugar - then you're well on your way to making this pumpkin cream cheese bread recipe!

So, whether you're looking for a sweet breakfast to accompany your morning coffee, a festive fall dessert, or just want to make something a little different, this pumpkin bread recipe is a perfect choice.

Oh, and speaking of fall, if you're in need of more fall recipes, I've got you covered! You can give this 2 banana bread recipe, sweet potato cobbler, and apple crisp recipe a try next!

    Ingredients

As I mentioned above, if you have the ingredients to make normal pumpkin bread, then you almost have everything you need to make this cream cheese pumpkin bread recipe.

Here's everything you'll need to make this pumpkin bread:

    • 1 Egg
    • 1 cup Pumpkin Puree
    • ½ cup Brown Sugar
    • ¼ cup Granulated Sugar
    • ¼ cup Greek Yogurt
    • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
    • 1 tsp. Cinnamon Powder
    • 1 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice
    • ½ tsp. Nutmeg
    • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
    • ½ tsp. Baking Powder
    • ½ tsp. Baking Soda

And for the cream cheese filling:

    • 1 Egg
    • 4 oz. Cream Cheese
    • ¼ cup Sugar
    • 3 tbsp. All Purpose Flour
    • ½ tsp. Vanilla Extract

Last but not least, to top off the best pumpkin bread:

    • 1 tbsp. Cinnamon
    • 1 tbsp. Sugar

Now, I know this list may seem long at first glance, but you'll notice that everything on it is pretty much a baking staple. And stocking up on these ingredients is well worth it. I guarantee you'll be getting requests to make this again once everyone gives it a try! You can even put some of the extras to good use and make this cream cheese banana bread.

Oh, and you can use almost every single one of these ingredients to make this pumpkin custard pie! It's always a hit for Thanksgiving dessert. So, give that a try next!

And if you want something that isn't pumpkin flavored, this Philadelphia no bake cheesecake is a great us of some of these ingredients.

A bowl of powdered sugar, a bowl of pumpkin puree, a bowl with an egg in it, a bowl of butter, a bowl of vanilla extract, and a bowl of sugar all on a grey counter.

How To Make Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread

As I've mentioned, this recipe is wonderfully simple for having so many components.

And it only takes about an hour in total, with only 15 minutes of that being prep! The rest of the time is just waiting for this deliciousness to bake in the oven.

So, let's stop wasting time and get into this recipe!

A bowl with pumpkin puree, an egg, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in it.

Step 1: Prep work & Making The Batter

First things first, preheat the oven to 350°F (180ºC) and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

Next, you can make the pumpkin bread batter. To do this, take out a large bowl and add the egg, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, granulated sugar, greek yogurt, vanilla extract, cinnamon powder, pumpkin pie spice, and nutmeg to it.

A bowl that is filled with pumpkin bread batter.

Now, give all of these ingredients a good mix until everything combines and you have a smooth batter.

Then, you can add the flour, baking powder, and baking soda to the bowl and give everything a mix with a rubber spatula until it's combined.

A bowl with flour, brown sugar, and an egg in it.

Step 3: Make the cream cheese filling

Once you have the pumpkin bread batter, you can make the cream cheese filling.

To do that, take out a separate bowl and add the egg, cream cheese, sugar, flour, and vanilla extract to it. Then, mix these ingredients together until smooth and creamy.

Some of a cream cheese mixture on top of pumpkin bread batter in a loaf pan.

Step 4: Assemble The pumpkin cream cheese bread

Now it's time to bring the bread together!

First, scoop half of the pumpkin batter into the prepared loaf pan. Then, add all of the cream cheese filling on top of that, followed by the rest of the pumpkin bread batter.

To finish it off, mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl and then sprinkle it on top of the bread.

Step 5: Bake The pumpkin cream cheese bread

Once the bread is ready, you can bake it for about 45 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.

Then, take the pumpkin cream cheese bread out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy!

How To Store Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread

This pumpkin cream cheese bread recipe will give you one hearty loaf of pumpkin bread, which is about 8 servings, depending on how thick you like your slices.

If your family is around when the bread is baking, the smell will draw everyone to the kitchen, and you might not have any bread left once it comes out of the oven.

But, if you do, this bread stores really well! You can put the bread slices in an airtight container - or bread box - and store them at room temperature for about 4 days.

However, if you want to keep it for longer, this pumpkin bread stores really well in the freezer. Just let the bread cool down completely and then transfer it to an airtight container and it'll stay good stored like this for up to 2 months!

    How To Reheat Pumpkin Bread

I personally like eating this leftover pumpkin cream cheese bread at room temperature. But, if you want to warm it up, just put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds.

Now, with that said, if you're starting with the pumpkin bread frozen, let it thaw in the refrigerator - or at room temperature - and then you can microwave it after it's thawed.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that's how to make pumpkin cream cheese bread!

If you love homemade pumpkin bread, then you're going to love this one with a cream cheese filling.

The pumpkin pie spice flavors and moist bread just go so well with smooth cream cheese filling. Everyone that I've made this for says it's one of the best pumpkin bread recipes they've ever tried!

But don't take mine/their word for it, you have to make this recipe and see for yourself.
