    The Best McDonalds Breakfast Burrito

Everyone knows that Mcdonald's breakfast is the best breakfast.

And it turns out that it's pretty easy to make most of your Mcdonald's favorites at home - like this McGriddle, egg McMuffin, and Mcdonald's biscuits! This Mcdonald's breakfast burrito recipe is no exception.

What's even better about this homemade breakfast burrito recipe is that it's inexpensive, easy, and super quick to whip up! Also, with easily customizable fillings, you can make these burritos however you want.

Vegetarian? Use your favorite veggie sausage instead of pork.

Do you want to get fancy? Use feta or smoked gouda cheese instead.

Love spice? Amp up those green chilies and use spicy salsa!

Since it's you making this Mcdonald's sausage burrito, you can control how much of each ingredient goes into it!

If you're looking for a little something extra special to add to your burrito, check out our Mcdonalds breakfast sauce recipe. Or, consider throwing in some sliced avocado, or a dollop of sour cream for a tasty twist.

    Ingredients

You might be surprised at how simple the ingredients are for these burritos.

With just 9 ingredients that are easy to get at your local grocery store, you'll have 2 Mcdonald's burritos in no time!

Here's everything you will need to make these Mcdonald's breakfast burritos:

    • ½ pound pork sausage mild
    • 1 tsp. Olive Oil
    • ½ cup yellow onion diced
    • ¼ cup fresh tomatoes diced
    • 1 tbsp. green chilies
    • 4 six-inch tortillas
    • 4 eggs
    • 8 American Cheese slices
    • ½ cup salsa

As I mentioned earlier, feel free to customize this McDonald's sausage burrito to suit your preferences.

You can swap the cheese, use whole wheat or flour tortillas, turkey sausage or not meat, literally anything you want!

By the way, if you're in the mood for lunch, you have to give these McDonald's chicken nuggets a try.

For sausage links on a plate, a bowl of salsa, bola tomatoes, a bowl of purple onion, I'll play with jalapeños on it, and a bowl with three eggs in it.

How to Make McDonalds Breakfast Burrito

With little equipment, just a couple of pans, and a small bowl, you can make these satisfying McDonald's breakfast burritos and have little to no mess!

And the cooking process for everything is super simple.

So, without further ado, let's make this McDonalds burritos copycat recipe.

Tomatoes, onion, and jalapeños in a skillet.

     Step 1: Prepare the Sausage

First, crumble and fry the pork sausage in a pan over medium heat. The smaller you chop up the pork, the faster it will cook.

Once the sausage is fully cooked, remove it from the pan and drain the excess grease. Then put the sausage aside in a small bowl.

An egg on top of chopped onion, jalapenos, tomatoes, and ground beef in a skillet

    Step 2: Cook the Veggies

For the veggies, add a little bit of olive oil to the pan, and then add the onion, green chillies, and tomatoes.

Cook until the veggies are soft, for about 5 minutes or so, then throw the sausage back in the pan.

    Step 3: Cook the Eggs

Next, crack the eggs in a small bowl and beat the whites with the yolks.

Then, add the beaten eggs to the pan with the sausage and veggies. And to enhance the flavors, add salt and pepper to cook.

Now, cook everything, frequently stirring, until the egg has cooked.

Slices of American cheese on top of salsa that is in the middle of a flour tortilla in a skillet.

    Step 4: Assemble Your Burritos

Now that you have all of the fillings ready to go, it's time to assemble your burritos.

To assemble, place a tortilla in a heated skillet and top with the salsa and cheese. Let the pan heat until the cheese starts to melt. Then, carefully take the tortilla out of the pan and stuff it with the filling.

The very last step may be the trickiest, and that is actually rolling up the burrito. To successfully roll your burrito, start by arranging your fillings in a line down the center of the tortilla.

Then, fold the sides of the tortilla inwards over the filling. Finally, roll the bottom of the tortilla over the top of the fillings - tucking as you roll.

You can also wrap the tortillas with paper to make them less messy to grab.

    Well, there you have it!

A couple of satisfying burritos you get to eat fresh and in the comfort of your own home!

How to Store & Reheat Breakfast Burritos

Like the McDonalds breakfast burrito, these are super easy to make and store ahead of time, and they keep really well in the fridge. I recommend wrapping them in parchment paper and aluminum foil to guarantee your burritos stay nicely wrapped.

Then, transfer the McDonald's breakfast burritos to an airtight container, and they'll keep for 3-4 days in the fridge or up to 2 months in the freezer.

To reheat the burritos you can place them in the microwave for about 1 minute for refrigerated burritos, or 3 minutes for frozen burritos.

Also, when microwaving a frozen burrito, wrap it in a damp paper towel (so the tortilla does not dry out) and stop halfway through to turn the burrito over.

Alternatively, you can also prepare just the fillings and keep them in the fridge or freezer for the same time as your burritos. To microwave the fillings, you can use the times above. Once your filling is warm, just follow the instructions for assembling the tortillas.

FAQ ABOUT THIS MCDONALDS BREAKFAST BURRITO RECIPE

Does Mcdonald's have a breakfast burrito?

Yes! Mcdonald's does currently offer a breakfast burrito. They took them off of their breakfast menu for a period of time, but they are currently back! But if Mcdonald's takes them off the menu again, there's no need to worry. You can just make this Mcdonald's breakfast burrito copycat recipe!

What do Mcdonald's breakfast burritos have in them?

Mcdonald's breakfast burritos offer the same filling as this recipe indicates. Savory pork sausage, scrambled eggs, and a veggie mix including onions, tomato, and green chilies. Then, it's finished off with melted American cheese, all wrapped up in a flour tortilla.

Half of a breakfast burrito wraps in parchment paper on top of another one of the breakfast burritos on part of a plate.

    Wrapping it All Up

Now let's wrap it up - no pun intended!

If this Mcdonald's breakfast burrito seems simple, that's because it is that simple!

With a handful of ingredients, you can quickly create your own Mcdonald's breakfast burritos however you like them, with whatever fillings, at any time of the day you want.

And, honestly, the ones that this recipe makes are even better than Mcdonald's!
