My Version Of McDonald's Iced Coffee
McDonald's is known for a lot of things. But, the iced coffee they serve typically isn't something that comes to mind when you think of one of the most well-known fast food chains in the world.
But there's just something special about the iced coffee at McDonald's. Atleast I think there is. And, well, if you're reading this you probably feel the same way too.
The premium roast coffee is mixed with sweet, tasty cream, and it just hits different.
Anyway, what if I told you you can make the same iced coffee recipe at home? And then, what if I told you it tastes the same, if not better?
Well, it's true!
And it only takes a few minutes and hardly any effort. That's why I this iced coffee recipe is the perfect thing to make on your way out the door to work. Or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
Also, if you're hosting a brunch, it's the best way to offer coffee to your guests. Set up a make-your-own coffee bar with flavored syrups and various toppings. Trust me, they'll love it!
Plus, there are so many ways you can customize your iced coffee. And if you really want to get fancy, you could even turn your coffee into an iced caramel macchiato! But we'll get into that later.
Oh, and if you're looking for more recipes like this one, try our Starbucks Iced white chocolate mocha, Salted caramel cream cold brew, or pumpkin cold brew. And if you want a change-up from coffee, this brown sugar milk tea or this Thai tea are tasty options to make at home.
Ingredients
- Coffee- your favorite one.
- Ice- for chilling.
- Half and half creamer- I like to use French vanilla flavored creamer.
- Simple syrup or sugar- for a touch of sweetness.
- Whipped cream- for a decadent finish.
Super simple, right?
Seriously, it's as simple as making this vanilla sweet cream cold foam, which uses a lot of the same ingredients.
How to Make McDonalds Iced Coffee
Step 1: Brew the coffee. First, you'll want to make sure you have brewed coffee ready to go. I suggest making a large pot of coffee early in the week and then refrigerating it so it's ready to go each morning.
Then you can easily pour a cup on your way out the door. Brewed coffee, when kept black, will last in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Just make sure to store it in an airtight container like a mason jar.
With that said, if you don't have coffee ready, you can brew a fresh pot in the morning and still make this iced coffee!
Step 2. Combine: Now you'll want to fill two glasses - or to-go cups - with iced cubes. Then, pour the iced coffee or freshly brewed coffee into the glasses/cups. Next, add the simple syrup and stir to combine it with the coffee.
Step 3: Add cream. Finally, you're going to top the coffee with half and half. And make sure to give it a good stir to fully combine the half and half with the coffee. To finish up, feel free to top the coffee with whipped cream and any extra toppings you prefer, like a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!
How I Recommend Storing Leftovers
So, I mentioned earlier that you can store black coffee in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. But once your iced coffee has cream in it, it will only taste its best in the fridge for a maximum of 2 days.
