    The Best Air Fryer Mushrooms

Mushrooms can be difficult to cook, and it's hard to come up with a way to make them taste good. Sometimes pan-frying mushrooms cause them to release a lot of water. As a result, you end up with boiled or steamed mushrooms instead of nicely browned ones that are also cooked to just the degree.

Well, these easy air fryer mushrooms take care of those issues.

The air fryer fried mushrooms have such a great texture with a garlic parmesan coating that is just delicious. Even if you don't love mushrooms, I think you'll enjoy this recipe.

This makes the perfect side dish for meals like this turkey sandwich and coconut rice. Or it even makes a great easy dinner for a vegetarian meal!

And since it's so easy to make and takes about 15 minutes, you can whip up these air fryer mushrooms at a moment's notice! While the mushrooms are air frying, you can whip up a main dish, prepare a dessert, or just sit back and relax.

    Ingredients

So, these air fryer mushrooms are made with basic ingredients. You honestly might have everything you need in your kitchen already! But if not, just a quick trip to the store is all you'll need.

Check out everything you'll need for this recipe:

    • 8 White Button Mushrooms, wiped clean and cut in half
    • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
    • Salt and Pepper, to taste
    • 1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    • 1 lemon, juiced
    • 2 tbsp Parmesan Cheese, finely grated

As you can see, this air fryer mushrooms recipe doesn’t call for any fancy ingredients.

But the garlic powder, lemon juice, and the grated parmesan cheese you add on top create an out-of-this-world flavor along with the crispy edges of the mushrooms.

By the way, if you like mushrooms, you have to try these fried oyster mushrooms or this chicken mushroom casserole next!

What Mushrooms Are Good for Air Frying

Now, I used white button mushrooms for this recipe. White button mushrooms, however, have a subtle earthy flavor that is elevated with the help of the flavorings used in this recipe.

But you can use cremini mushrooms, portobello mushrooms, baby bellas, or really any kind of mushrooms you want!

Whatever you decide to use will make the best mushrooms ever.

How to Cook Mushrooms in Air Fryer

The process of air frying mushrooms is beyond easy. Even if you don't make a lot of air fryer recipes, you'll find this one to be super simple!

So grab your ingredients, and let's make mushrooms in the air fryer!

A bunch of mushrooms with olive oil on top in an air fryer basket.

    Step 1: Preparing the Mushrooms

Start with preparing the mushrooms for cooking. The biggest mistake many people make when cleaning cultivated button mushrooms is they place them in a bowl of water. As mushrooms are porous, they soak up water like a sponge. This makes them release too much water in the process of cooking and affects their flavor.

Instead, wipe the mushrooms with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt or debris that may be on them.

If the mushrooms are small, you can leave them whole or cut them in half. But if they are bigger - typically if using portobello mushrooms - slice the mushrooms into a few even slices or divide them into four parts.

    Step 2: Seasoning The Mushrooms

Now, put the cleaned mushrooms in a large bowl.

Then sprinkle the garlic powder, salt, and pepper over the mushrooms and pour the olive oil and lemon juice over them.

Next, mix the mushrooms with all of the ingredients until they are thoroughly coated.

Step 3: Air Frying The Mushrooms

It's time to cook these mushrooms in the air fryer. To do that, put some parchment paper in the air fryer basket and place the mushrooms into the air fryer basket in an even layer. If there isn't enough room in the air fryer basket, you'll have to cook them in two batches unless you have a larger air fryer.

Now sprinkle some finely grated parmesan cheese on top and air fry the mushrooms at 355°F (180°C) degrees for about 10 minutes.

And make sure to give the air fryer basket a shake every few minutes to make sure the mushrooms are all evenly cooked.

Finally, serve these air fryer mushrooms hot out of the air fryer, sprinkle some more cheese on top if you want, and enjoy!

How to Store Air Fried Mushrooms

This recipe will make enough mushrooms for one serving if you're having it as a meal, but about two servings if you want it as a side.

If you want more servings, you can easily double or triple this recipe!

Now, these air fryer mushrooms will last in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3-5 days.

    Reheating Air Fryer Mushrooms

You can eat the leftover mushrooms cold, but if you want, you can also reheat them.

To reheat the air fryer mushrooms, one option is to microwave them for 30 or 60 seconds at low power.

Alternatively, you can reheat the cooked mushrooms in the air fryer. Set the air fryer to 380°F and air fry the mushrooms for around 4 minutes or until they reach your desired temperature.

If you have a lot of air fried mushrooms to reheat, do it in a few batches.

    Wrapping It All Up

That is how to make air fryer mushrooms with the most perfect texture and best garlic mushrooms flavor.

This is seriously one of the best recipes you can make with mushrooms since it's so easy and tastes so delicious.
