My Take On Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken
Chicken breast recipes don't have to be boring, and that's where this Texas Roadhouse herb-crusted chicken recipe comes in.
It's so rich in flavor and will seriously blow you away with how tasty it is! And guess what the best part is?
There's hardly any work needed to make it. Just four simple steps are all you need to follow to put together a restaurant-style meal.
And even better yet is the fact that this Roadhouse herb crusted chicken comes together in less than thirty minutes!
Yup, you read that right, you can have a hearty - and filling - dinner that the whole family will love in no time! It's similar to this Longhorn parmesan crusted chicken.
Oh, by the way, I find this main course works wonderfully with some of our equally delicious and healthy sides, like this skillet cornbread, crack green bean recipe, or this brussels sprouts with a flavorful honey butter sauce.
However, my personal favorite is to serve this herb-crusted chicken recipe with these Texas Roadhouse rolls and cinnamon butter for the complete restaurant experience.
Ingredients
- Chicken breasts- use two large ones similar in size.
- Dried dill, parsley, basil, and oregano- for a delicious blend of flavors that balance each other out so well.
- Garlic powder- to add some savoriness to the dried herbs.
- Kosher salt and black pepper- for more flavor.
- Extra virgin olive oil
By the way, this chicken goes incredible dipped in this chipotle mayo or smothered in this white country gravy, so you'll want to make sure you have what you need to make one of those recipes.
Customizing Your Chicken
Now, if any of these herbs don’t suit your tastes, you can always switch them up.
I like to add a little dash of red pepper flakes when I’m feeling spicy.
Or, sometimes, when I'm really craving some extra flavor, I'll even add ½ tablespoon of onion powder - and a little extra garlic powder for a bit of extra umami flavor.
You can even swap out the kosher salt for a nicely smoked sea salt - or garlic salt - to go beyond plain old garlic powder.
The options are really endless for customizing your Texas Roadhouse herb crusted chicken.
If you really want to ante up the flavor, you can always throw your herb crusted chicken on the grill for some delicious grilled chicken.
How To Make Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken
So, as I mentioned, this Texas Roadhouse herb crusted chicken is actually super quick and easy to make.
And it yields results that are as good as the dish you'd get in the restaurant. Now take out your ingredients and let's get cooking!
Step 1: Making The Texas Roadhouse Herb Mixture
Alright, first things first, you'll want to add and mix all of the herbs and seasonings in a bowl.
Then, once all of the seasonings are mixed up well for this Texas roadhouse herb crusted chicken, you can set them aside for later.
Step 2: Preparing The Chicken Breasts
Alright, so the next step is going to be tenderizing and flattening your chicken breasts.
So, to do that, you'll want to cover the chicken with plastic wrap and use a mallet to flatten the chicken breasts until they're about a ¼ inch thick.
Alright, so once the chicken is the right thickness you want to coat it in the herb crust seasoning until it's fully covered on both sides.
Step 3: Cooking The Texas Roadhouse Chicken
So, now it's time to cook this Texas Roadhouse chicken.
To cook it, heat the oil over medium-high heat in a nonstick skillet. Then, add the chicken to the pan, and fry for 5 minutes per side - or until the crust is toasted.
Next, lower the temperature to medium-low and finish cooking the chicken - for around 10 more minutes - depending on the thickness of your chicken breasts.
Once your Texas roadhouse chicken is cooked to perfection, serve it with the sides of your choice and enjoy!
My Cooking Tips For Juicy Chicken
The most important thing to remember is that your Texas Roadhouse herb crusted chicken must reach an internal temperature of 165 ºF.
So, with that said, I find an internal thermometer is the most accurate method of determining the temperature of the chicken, so I definitely recommend using one to see if your Texas Roadhouse herb crusted chicken is done.
Now, with that said, if you don't have access to an internal thermometer, you can always cut a small piece of one of the chicken breasts, and so long as there is no pink in the middle, you are good to go!
How simple is that?!
In just about 20 minutes time, you can have 2 big servings of this super yummy, savory, herbaceous Texas Roadhouse roasted chicken.
You might even convince your family to think you went all the way to the restaurant just to get it!
How To Store Leftovers
This herb crusted chicken recipe is not only simple to make, but it makes for perfect leftovers. And as I mentioned, this delicious herb crusted chicken recipe will make 2 large servings.
So you might want to double or triple this recipe because it's so good leftover.
And if you end up with leftovers, you can store them in the fridge or freezer.
Having said that, this Texas Roadhouse herb crusted chicken will last in an airtight container in your fridge for up to 3-4 days, or in the freezer for up to 3-4 months.
How To Reheat The Chicken
I've found the best way to reheat the herb crusted chicken is to heat it in the oven. To do this, preheat the oven to 400°F. Then take the chicken out of the fridge and let it come to room temperature. Now place the chicken on a baking dish and heat for about 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F again.
You can also microwave the chicken in 20-second increments until warm for a quicker method, but I'm not a fan of the texture it gives the chicken.
My Final Thoughts
This Texas roadhouse herb-crusted chicken recipe is designed to impress.
Even if you've had the real deal, this homemade salty herb-crusted chicken recipe will taste way better. You'll also get the added satisfaction of having made it at home all by yourself!
