    The Best Longhorn Brussel Sprouts

Brussel sprouts usually get a bad rap, but I'm here to show you that they can taste fantastic if cooked right!

This Longhorn brussel sprouts recipe is made with an addictive spicy honey butter sauce and a double cooking method that makes them taste killer. Even better, they cook up in just 15 minutes!

Of course, since they're a Longhorn steakhouse classic, you'll want to throw a couple of steaks on the grill to pair with these crispy brussel sprouts as well as a starchy side like these air fryer baked potatoes.

And don't limit yourself to steak, these Longhorn brussel sprouts will work alongside any of your favorite proteins.

I recommend trying them with this Longhorn parmesan crusted chicken or Longhorn bourbon salmon for the full restaurant experience!

    Ingredients

As I mentioned earlier, you only need a few simple ingredients to make this Longhorn brussel sprouts recipe.

And the seasoning ingredients are all pantry staples that you probably already have stocked. So, all you need to do is grab a bag of sprouts, and you're ready to go!

With that said, let's take a closer look at the ingredients.

Here's what you'll need to make these brussel sprouts Longhorn style:

    • 2 lbs Brussel Sprouts
    • Salt
    • Oil for frying
    • ½ cup butter
    • 2 tbsp Chili Rub
    • 1 teaspoon sea salt
    • ⅓ cup honey
    • 1 teaspoon sugar

    It's that simple!

Just a handful of basic ingredients to make possibly one of the tastiest vegetable side dishes ever.

By the way, you can use any chili rub you have on hand.

And if you don't already have a go-to in your pantry, I recommend picking up one that has just the right heat level for you. Don't worry about the amount we'll be using in this recipe; the honey and butter will tone down a lot of the spice.

Greens can sometimes seem hard to make exciting, but it's totally possible, as you can see from this recipe.

And if you want to try more magically delicious vegetable side dishes, check out this spinach casserole and asparagus casserole.

How to Make Longhorn Brussel Sprouts

Like I said before, you're going to be using a two-step cooking method and some banging spicy honey butter to make these irresistible Longhorn Steakhouse brussel sprouts.

The blanching, frying, and seasoning will make these veggies go from zero to hero in just 15 minutes!

When you blanch the sprouts first, you cook out a lot of their bitterness.

Then, the frying crisps up the outside and takes the flavor to the next level.

Finish that off with a good helping of sweet and spicy buttery goodness, and you've got yourself a dish to remember.

Now, grab your ingredients, and let's get cooking!

Brussel sprouts in a pot of water.

Step 1: Prep the Brussel Sprouts

Before you get started, give the brussel sprouts a good wash and set them aside.

Then, get the water boiling. Fill a saucepan with water and make sure to salt it generously. Oh, and if you want the water to boil faster, cover the pot with a lid to trap in the heat.

Seven brussel sprouts in boiling water.

Step 2: Blanch the brussel Sprouts

Now, once you've got a rolling boil going, pop in the sprouts and blanch them for 4 minutes. Blanching the vegetables in boiling water will help retain as much of their nutritional value as possible.

Also, the brussel sprouts don't need to be fully cooked at this stage, so don't worry if they still seem a little underdone.

Anyway, now you can remove the sprouts from the water and drain them well. Then, set them aside while you prepare the seasoning.

    Step 3: Make the Seasoning

It's time to get some flavor going!

In a small bowl, combine the chili rub, sea salt, honey, and sugar into a well-blended paste and set that aside for later.

Step 4: Fry and Season the Sprouts

So, now these sprouts are ready for their second round of cooking.

And, to cook them, the first thing you'll want to do is coat a frying pan in a thin layer of oil, and bring it to medium-high heat.

Then, when the oil is hot, you can flash fry the brussel sprouts until they're golden and crispy. And it should only take a few minutes for that to happen.

Anyway, once they're nice and crispy you can drain off any excess oil from them, and then transfer your brussels sprouts to a large bowl.

Now it's time to make the sauce. So, to do that, you'll want to melt the butter in the microwave and pour it into the prepared bowl of seasoning.

Then, once everything is well-combined, pour it over the sprouts. Oh, and don't forget to give them a good toss to get them well coated in it before serving.

    Storing and Reheating Brussel Sprouts

So, this Longhorn brussel sprouts recipe makes about 4 servings, and that makes it perfect for a family dinner.

And any leftovers you might have will also keep really well.

You'll want to make sure you're using an airtight container, though, as these can have a pretty strong smell. Stored this way, they'll keep in the fridge for 3-5 days.

Then, to reheat the brussels sprouts, I suggest using a frying pan to heat them through and re-melt the butter sauce.

Conversely, you can pop them in the microwave for a few minutes until they're warm throughout.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that's how to make Longhorn steakhouse brussel sprouts at home!

Now you don't have to go out to indulge in these crisp and buttery flavor bombs - just whip them up like a pro in your own kitchen.

And if your loved ones aren't big on Brussel sprouts, I'm sure these buttery, crispy brussels sprouts will change their opinion in no time!

So, I hope you enjoy this Longhorn Brussel sprouts recipe as much as I do. If you make it, leave comment below and let me know your thoughts.
