Seriously, there's nothing I love more than waking up in the morning and having a hot drink, especially winter time. And, I'm not going to lie, for me, most of the time, that means driving to Starbucks and ordering their chai latte. Yeah, it's an expensive - and time consuming - ritual.
So, that's exactly why I decided to try and recreate their chai latte at home! I wanted to start saving myself both time and money.
And, I know I'm biased, but I think it tastes even better than the one that Starbucks makes.
Seriously, it has the ideal blend of spices, and it's perfectly creamy and frothy. Honestly, it's so good that I can't stop making it every day.
Now, in addition to all of that, this Starbucks chai tea latte is made with just 4 ingredients and in just 5 minutes! So, it's really quick and easy to whip up too.

So, as I mentioned before, this recipe is made with just a handful of ingredients. And if you're a regular tea drinker, you probably have everything you need at home already!
Anyway, here's what you'll need to make a homemade Starbucks chai tea latte:
- 1 Cups boiling water
- 2 Chai tea bags
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 1 Cup Almond Milk, hot
- 3 Tbsps Maple Syrup
- Cinnamon powder to serve

While I recommend making this chai tea latte recipe with the ingredients listed above, you certainly can make some substitutions for them, and I have some suggestions on how to go about that.
As you can see, this recipe uses true chai tea as opposed to a chai tea concentrate or black tea concentrate.
However, if you want to, you can use the Tazo chai concentrate to make this chai tea too. If you go with the concentrate though you'll want to skip the teabags, water, cinnamon, and sugar and just combine it with milk. Typically, I always use a ratio of 1 cup of Tazo chai concentrate with ½ a cup of hot milk when I make my chai lattes that way.
Now, with all of that said, I like making my chai lattes with almond milk, but feel free to use any kind of milk that you want - whole milk, oat milk, coconut milk, all will work great.
Oh, and you don't just have to drink this chai tea latte hot! If you want to make an iced chai latte, simply follow the same instructions that I've written out below and serve it over ice.

How to make Starbucks Chai Tea Latte
We've finally arrived at the moment where only 5 minutes stand in your way from you and this Starbucks chai tea latte.
So, let's not waste any more time and get into how to make a Starbucks chai tea latte at home!
Step 1: Brew the Chai Tea
First, you're going to start by brewing the chai tea. So, to do this, you'll want to add the water and maple syrup to a small pot and whisk them until they combine. Then, you'll want to bring the water and maple syrup mixture up to a boil and add your tea bags to it along with the cinnamon stick.
Now, let the tea bags steep for 5-10 minutes.
Step 2: Warm The Milk
So, while the chai tea is brewing you're going to warm up the milk. To do this, you'll just want to add the almond milk to a small saucepan and heat it over low heat. You'll want the milk to get hot enough that a little steam starts rising from it, but not hot enough that it boils.
With that said, if you're making an iced chai tea latte, you can skip this step and add in the cold milk after the chai tea has been brewed.
Step 3: Finish The Chai Tea latte
Now once the tea is brewed and the milk is warmed, you can pour the brewed chai tea into your favorite mug and top it with the warm almond milk. By the way, if you want the milk to be extra frothy, then you'll want to mix it with a handheld frother until foamy, and then pour it into the cup of tea.

This homemade Starbucks chai latte will make two cups. So, it's perfect to have something to sip on all morning or to split with a friend!
With that said, if you don't finish all of the chai tea, you can store it in a sealed glass jar - or airtight container - in the fridge for about 2-5 days. Honestly, I like to make a double - or triple - batch of this recipe when I make it, that way I have it in my fridge and ready to go when I want it all week long.
How to Reheat Starbucks Chai Tea Latte
Now, I'm not going to lie, I like to make iced chai tea lattes with my leftovers.
But, if you want, you can warm it back up. To do this, either heat it in a pot over low heat until warm or heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds - or until it's warm.
