    The Best Spicy Miso Ramen

If you've been looking for one of the most delicious ramen recipes you can make, this spicy miso ramen is it.

The noodles, the spiciness, the meatiness, gah it's just so, so good.

Now, this homemade shiro miso ramen isn't just one of the tastiest ramen recipes out there, it's also one of the easiest to make too. Honestly, it's so easy to whip up this ramen that you can make another recipe alongside it, like this potato mochi.

That's what I usually do anyway. I just love pairing the two together because the potato mochi cuts some of the heat from the ramen.

A boiled egg split in half in a ball that is filled with Ramen noodles, ground beef, mushrooms, and broth.

    Why This Recipe Works

Quick and easy. This is one of the easiest ramen recipes you'll make, and you can have it ready and on the table in 20 minutes.

Versatile. You can add or substitute any ingredients that you want, and this ramen will turn out delicious.

The flavor. All of the ingredients in this recipe combine to make the most delicious spicy umami flavor.

    Ingredients

If you're a regular ramen maker then you probably have most - if not all - of the ingredients you'll need to make this spicy miso ramen at home already.

With that said though, if you need to go to the store and get some of them, then you might want to stock up . You can always use the extras to make some of my other ramen recipes - like this Kylie Jenner ramen or this birria ramen - next.

Anyway, here's what you'll need to make spicy miso ramen:

    • 1 Package of Instant Ramen Noodles
    • 1 Tbsp. Sesame Oil
    • ½ Lb Ground Pork
    • 1 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
    • 2 Shallots, sliced
    • 1 Tsp. Garlic Minced
    • 1 Tsp. Ginger, grated
    • 1 Cup Mushrooms (I used shiitake mushrooms)
    • 2 Tbsp. Black Miso Paste
    • 3 Cups Chicken Broth
    • 1 Egg, soft-boiled
    • 1-2 Tbsp Chili Oil
    • Toppings: green onions, chili oil, sesame seeds

    See, pretty basic stuff, right?

A bowl of ground beef, a block of Ramen noodles, a bowl of onions, a bowl of mushrooms, an egg, a bowl of garlic, a bowl of sesame seeds, and a bowl of soy sauce all on the counter.

How To Make Spicy Miso Ramen

    1. Cook the meat: Heat a Dutch oven or large pot to medium high and add the sesame oil. Add the ground pork and soy sauce and cook until the meat browns on all sides. Set aside for later.

Ground beef in a pot. Surrounding the pot is an egg, bowl sesame seeds, and a block of Ramen noodles.

    2. Cook the veggies: Add the shallots, garlic, ginger, mushrooms, and black miso paste to the pot. Cook until fragrant. Add the broth to the same pot and cook for 5 more minutes, stirring until everything’s mixed.

    3. Cook the noodles: Bring the ramen broth to a boil and add the noodles. Cook for a couple more minutes until tender.

    4. Serve: Add the broth and noodles in two bowls, add the ground pork and toppings like a soft boiled egg, and enjoy!

Tips To Make The Best Recipe

    • Try using brown rice noodles instead of ramen noodles.
    • Use fresh ramen noodles for a different flavor.
    • Substitute the ground pork for ground chicken, ground turkey, or even ground beef.
    • Substitute the black miso paste for red miso, white miso, Asian sesame paste, or chili bean paste in its place.
    • Add a soft boiled egg, bean sprouts, and baby bok choy for a healthier meal.
    • Serve with freshly grated ginger on top.

    How To Store Cooked Ramen

In the fridge: Store your leftover ramen in an airtight container, and it'll last in the fridge for about 2 days.

In the freezer: Transfer the cooked ramen to a freezer-safe bag or airtight container and freeze for up to 2 months.

Reheating: Add everything back to a large pot and heat it on your stovetop over medium heat, stirring everything frequently until it reaches your desired temperature.

FAQs About This Spicy Miso Ramen Recipe

What does spicy miso ramen have in it?

The key ingredient that makes this ramen spicy is the black miso paste and chili oil. Both of these ingredients pack a ton of flavor and really elevate the entire dish.

What does spicy miso ramen taste like?

The ramen soup has a very unique, strong, and bold flavor from the umami kick of the miso paste. It's super rich, slightly spicy, a tiny bit salty, and really, really delicious!

What meat is in spicy miso ramen?

Typically spicy shiro miso ramen is made with ground pork. However, what ground meat you go with is totally up to you - ground turkey, ground chicken, or ground beef will all work great in this recipe.
