    The Best McDonalds Slushie

If you love McDonald's, then you probably love their slushies.

    I know I do.

But, I bet you never thought about making your own McDonald's slushies at home before, right? Well, that is until now anyways.

Well, let me tell ya, it's actually really easy to make your own homemade slushie.

Plus, making slushes at home is way, way healthier for you than the ones you can buy at the chain. I mean, this slushie recipe has no hidden ingredients like the actual one from McDonald's - or a convenience store. There's no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial or "natural flavors," and certainly no potassium sorbate.

And, of course, if you make this recipe, you're still going to end up with a strawberry lemonade slushie that's incredibly flavorful and refreshing. So, it's a double win!

Oh, and don't worry, just in case you were craving a Minute Maid blue raspberry slushie, I've included a recipe for making that as well. You won't even need grape and raspberry juices - or any extra juice actually - to make it!

By the way, if you're looking for more McDonald's copycat drink recipes, you have to make this strawberry banana smoothie or mocha frappe next.

A finished strawberry slushie in a glass, with the ingredients to make the slushie behind the glass.

    Ingredients

Now, as I mentioned before, there are no fake - or hard-to-pronounce - ingredients in this slushie recipe. No added citric acid, sodium benzoate, and certainly no added juices.

That being said, there is room to modify this recipe if you want it sweeter or less sweet, so I'll be sure to give you some options.

Anyway, here's what you'll need to make this McDonald's strawberry slushie:

    • 4 cups Water
    • 3 Lemons, squeezed
    • ¼ cup Sugar or sugar substitue
    • 3 cups Ice Cubes
    • ¼ cup Muddled Strawberries

See what I mean by simple?

Now, if you prefer your slushie to be on the sweeter side all you have to do is add more sugar - or even add a splash of lemon-lime soda - to do that.

If you want it to be less sweet, just add less sugar! Seriously, it's that simple.

By the way, you can use strawberries to make this McDonalds parfait recipe, so you'll want to pick up extra if you're going to the store.

A bowl of juiced lemons, a bowl of ice, and a small container of strawberries and sugar on a white counter.

    How to Make McDonalds Slushie

Trust me, after you've made this slushie recipe once, you'll have no problem making it again and again!

It's that simple, so let's not waste any more time and jump right into it.

A cup with muddled strawberries and a spoon sticking out of the glass and ingredients to make a slushie behind the glass.

    Step 1: Blend The Ingredients

First, add the water, lemon juice, sugar, and ice cubes to a blender and pulse until frozen and icy.

Alternatively, you can also use a food processor to blend the ingredients.

A blender with ice, a bowl of juiced lemons and a bowl of strawberries on a white counter, and a hand holding a container of sugar.

    Step 2: Muddle The Berries

Next, muddle the strawberries and add them to the bottom of two glasses. And to muddle the strawberries, you can use a mortar and pestle, a small bowl with a spoon, or even a glass.

A blender filled with crushed ice, a bowl of juiced lemons, a small bowl of strawberries, and a hand holding the blender.

    Step 3: Assemble and Enjoy!

Now, pour the blended lemonade slushie into the glasses with the muddle strawberries in it, and enjoy!

How to Make a Blue Raspberry Slushie

Just in case you're still craving that Minute Maid Blue Raspberry Slushie, here is how you can modify the ingredients above to make it happen:

    • Swap the strawberries for raspberries
    • Add 1 packet of Blue Raspberry Kool-Aid, or a couple of squirts of liquid blue raspberry drink mix to the water.

And that's all that separates you from the best homemade blue raspberry slushie ever. As for the steps to make a blue raspberry slushie, just follow them above as normal.

A hand holding a strawberry slushie in a glass, with a straw. There is another strawberry slushie in a glass with a straw on the white counter, and a small bowl of strawberries next to the slushie.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that's how to make a McDonald's slushie at home from scratch!

This is such a sweet, refreshing drink that is perfect for a hot day. And it's so much healthier than the one you'd actually get from Mcdonald's - or any convenience store really.
