The Best McDonalds Cookies
McDonald's chocolate chip cookies aren't the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the McDonald's menu, but they're honestly one of the most delicious things you can get from the iconic fast-food restaurant.
Well, since you all know by now that I can never say no to creating a good copycat recipe, I knew I had to try recreating the cookies from McDonald's. And I think they turned out incredible!
I mean, these ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies are wonderfully soft and chewy with slightly crisp edges and chocolate chips in every single bite.
In addition to being crazy delicious, these cookies are easy to make. You basically just combine the wet and dry ingredients, then portion your cookies and bake them. It's so simple!
By the way, if you're looking for more McDonald's sweet treats to whip up while your cookies bake in the oven, then I definitely suggest you check out this McDonald's Oreo McFlurry!
Ingredients Needed
These chocolate chip cookies come together with much of the same ingredients as any chocolate chip cookie recipe. Unlike the actual McDonald's chocolate chip cookie, these bad boys have no weird or hard-to-pronounce ingredients. So you won't find any cocoa butter, malted barley flour, soy lecithin, soybean oil, or sodium acid pyrophosphate in these!
Anyway, here are all of the McDonald's cookie ingredients:
- Unsalted butter
- Brown sugar
- White sugar
- Egg
- Vanilla extract
- All-purpose flour
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips- milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, or white chocolate chips work too.
Pretty simple stuff, right?!

How To Make McDonald's Chocolate Chip Cookies
STEP 1: MIX THE WET AND DRY INGREDIENTS
First things first, preheat the oven to 350°F (180ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Then you can grab an electric mixer and cream together the white sugar and brown sugar with the melted butter in a large bowl. Next, you'll want to add the egg and vanilla extract and continue mixing until everything combines.
Once you've combined your wet ingredients, grab a separate bowl and mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
STEP 2: COMBINE THE WET AND DRY INGREDIENTS
Now it's time to combine the wet and dry ingredients. I suggest working in batches of thirds, transferring ⅓ of the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, then mix to combine. You'll want to repeat this process until you've fully combined all of the wet and dry ingredients.
Then when a dough forms, you can add the chocolate chips and fold them into the cookie dough. Be careful not to overmix since this can make the cookie dough turn out tough and chewy.
STEP 3: PORTION THE COOKIE DOUGH AND BAKE
Once you've finished mixing your cookie dough, you can scoop about one tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet and bake the cookies for 10 minutes.
When the 10 minutes are up, or the cookies reach your desired doneness, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for several minutes before serving. Enjoy!
How To Store McDonald's Cookies
This recipe for McDonald's cookies makes about 16 cookies, depending on big you make them. Honestly, they're so good hot out of the oven that I wouldn't expect to have many leftovers!
With that said, if you do have leftovers, they store really well. Just transfer your leftover cookies to an airtight container and keep 'em on the counter for about 2 weeks, but they'll be freshest the first week after baking.
Alternatively, you can freeze your cookies in an airtight container - or freezer-safe bag - for up to 8 months. When you're ready to enjoy them again, either let them thaw in the fridge overnight or pop 'em in the microwave for 15 seconds or until warm.
