Let's be honest, burgers are hard to cook just right on the grill or stovetop, and they either turn out overcooked or underdone. And that's why this sous vide cooking method is so great!
It takes seasoned ground beef patties and cooks them low and slow in the sous vide machine, then they get seared on a skillet for that classic crisp texture on the outside. The burgers turn out super tender, juicy, and just mouthwateringly delicious!
Plus, as I mentioned, this sous vide hamburger recipe is pretty much effortless to make, and it's almost all hands-off cooking. So while you're waiting for the burgers to finish up, you can make these copycat McDonald's french fries for the ultimate fast-food meal at home!

The ingredient list for these sous vide burgers is as simple as any ol' burger recipe. And all you have to pick up from the store is anything that you prefer to stack your juicy burgers with.
Anyway, here's what you'll need to make the beef patties:

Topping Ideas
The best part about this recipe is that you can make these burgers completely your own by putting any toppings you want on 'em.
Personally, I like to make a sous vide cheeseburger and stack it with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard, but you can put anything you want on them! Some other great options are relish, pickles, ketchup, ranch dressing, caramelized onions, bbq sauce and crispy fried onions, swiss cheese, and my favorite, this Big Mac sauce.
How To Make Sous Vide Burgers
As I mentioned a few times, this homemade burger recipe is really easy to make. You literally just let the burgers cook in the sous vide machine and then finish 'em off on a skillet. That's it!
So with all that said, let's not waste any more time and get cooking!
Step 1: Sous Vide The Burgers
First, you'll want to season the ground beef with salt and pepper, mixing it into the beef with your hands. Then you can take the seasoned ground beef and form it into 4 equal-sized burger patties.
Once you've formed the hamburger patties, you can place them in the sous vide bag and remove the air using a vacuum sealer.
Now put the bag and sous vide immersion circulator in a pot or large container full of water and set it to cook at 140°F for 3 hours. This should make a medium-cooked burger, so if you prefer them medium rare, sous vide the burgers for about 30 minutes less.
When the 3 hours are up, you'll want to remove the burgers from the sous vide water bath and pat them dry with kitchen towels.
Step 2: Sear The Burgers
Ok, now that the burgers are perfectly cooked, you'll give them a quick sear to finish 'em off. So take out a cast iron skillet or grill pan and set it over medium heat. Then you can add a little olive oil to the pan, and once it's hot, you can add the burgers to it.
Now cook the burgers on one side for a minute or so until browned, then flip it over and add the slices of cheese on top. You'll want to let the burger continue cooking until the cheese melts, then you can take them off the hot pan and set them aside.
Step 3: Assemble The Burgers
Finally, you can assemble the tender burgers however you want!
I like to take the cooked burgers and add them to toasted buns, then stack 'em high with tomatoes, red onion, lettuce leaves, and mustard. But whatever you put on these burgers, they'll be delicious, so enjoy!
How To Store Sous Vide Burgers
This recipe for sous vide burgers makes 4 burgers, so it's perfect for a big lunch or family dinner.
If you end up with leftovers, you store just the burger patty in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3-4 days. And if you want to keep it for longer, you can freeze the cooked burgers in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag with all of the air squeezed out for about 2-3 months.
How To Reheat Sous Vide Burgers
Whenever you're ready to eat the burgers again, you'll definitely want to reheat them. The best way to reheat a cooked burger is in the oven or on the stovetop.
If you want to use the oven, put the leftover burgers on a baking dish lined with parchment paper and heat them up at 400°F for about 12 minutes or until warm, stopping halfway through to flip them over.
For the stovetop, you'll want to heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil to it. Then you can add the burger and cook it for 3-4 minutes, flipping it halfway through.
