The recipe basically boils down to doing a little prep work, par-cooking the seafood and making the sauce, and then combining everything together and finishing it off in the oven.
By the way, while the seafood casserole is baking, you'll have time to make a delicious side to go with it, like this hibachi fried rice, these Chinese green beans, or this Southern cornbread.

How To Make Seafood Casserole
1. Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and melt 2 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Cook the seafood: Add the shrimp and scallops to the melted butter and cook for 1 minute. Remove the shrimp and scallops from the skillet. Place the fish fillets in a baking dish and season to taste with salt and pepper. Add 2 tablespoon of water and cook the fish for 10 minutes.
3. Make the sauce: Add a splash of stock to deglaze the skillet, then add the rest of the broth. Add the heavy cream, mustard, and spices to the skillet. Mix remaining softened butter in a bowl with equal parts of flour (2 tbsps each), then add the butter-flour mixture to the skillet.
4. Complete the sauce: Let the sauce simmer over low heat until it has slightly thickened. Then remove from the heat and stir in cooked shrimp, scallops, and crab meat. Mix to combine everything together and set aside.
5. Assemble the casserole: Drain the excess water from the cooked fish and put the fish in a baking dish. Top the fish with the prepared seafood sauce mixture.
6. Bake and serve: Bake the casserole for 25 minutes or until golden. Let it cool briefly before serving, and enjoy!
Tips To Make The Best Recipe
- Prepare everything else for the casserole while the fish is baking to save time.
- Add cooked rice to the sauce mixture to make a hearty seafood rice casserole.
- Add veggies like mushrooms, green peppers, celery, or peas to make the casserole healthier.
- Top the casserole with parmesan cheese, swiss cheese, or any shredded cheese before baking to make it a cheesy casserole.
- Sprinkle Italian bread crumbs, panko bread crumbs, or even crushed Ritz crackers mixed with butter on top of the casserole before baking for an added crunch.
How To Store Seafood Casserole
In the fridge: Transfer your extras to an airtight container or put a lid on the casserole dish and store for up to 4 days.
In the freezer: Put the leftover casserole in a freezer-safe container and freeze it for up to 3 months.
Reheating: Put the casserole back in a baking dish and heat at 200°F uncovered for about 15 minutes or until fully reheated. If you need to thin the sauce out a little bit, just add a little broth to the casserole dish. Let the frozen casserole thaw in the fridge before reheating.
