    The Best Lemon Drop Shot

If you like your cocktails sweet and sour, then you're going to love this lemon drop shot recipe.

These lemon drop shots taste just like the candy lemon drops you might have had as a kid. They're the perfect balance of sweet and tart, with a nice boozy finish that's sure to get the party started!

So, if you're looking for a refreshing vodka recipe to impress even the pickiest of guests this shot recipe is it.

Plus, you'll look like a true pro whipping out a tray of these chilled lemon drop shots finished with a sugar rim. And no one will ever believe how easy they actually were to make!

I mean, just a few basic ingredients - like fresh lemon juice, sugar, vodka, and ice - are all you need to make this lemon vodka shot recipe. Honestly, once you have those ingredients this shot recipe practically makes itself.

    Ingredients

As I mentioned above, just a few simple ingredients are all you need to make these shots.

In fact, just 5 ingredients are all you'll need to put the lemon drop shot together. And if you drink occasionally you probably have most - if not all - of them at home already.

Anyway, here's everything you'll need to make this lemon drop shot recipe:

    • 3 Lemon Wedges
    • 2 oz. Simple Syrup (or agave syrup)
    • 2 oz. Vodka
    • 2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
    • Ice

And what you'll need for the sugar rim:

    • 1 Lemon, quartered
    • 3 tbsp. Sugar

    Pretty simple right?

    Ingredients To Use

So there's a lot of wiggle room with this lemon drop shot, and you can really use anything you want to make it!

When it comes to vodka, you really can't go wrong with Grey Goose, Titos, or Smirnoff. I like Grey Goose in mine, but whatever you have on hand will work just fine.

Now, if you don't have simple syrup,  don't worry. You can make it at home with the ingredients you already have on hand. Just combine equal parts white sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves into the water, then let the syrup cool and transfer it to a jar to use whenever you want.

By the way, you can use a lot of the ingredients from this lemon drop shot to make this white tea shot too. So you can whip that up and have a cocktail party!

How To Make A Lemon Drop Shot

Again, this lemon drop shot recipe couldn't be easier to make. Just 3 simple steps are all you need to follow to put it together.

Plus, as far as equipment goes, you hardly need anything out of the ordinary. Shot glasses, a cocktail shaker, and a muddler are the only things you'll need to make these lemon drop shots. And honestly, these are great pieces of equipment for any home bar, so they're worth getting if you don't already have them.

Now, just so you know, this lemon drop shot recipe makes just 1 shot. But you can easily double, triple, or even quadruple this recipe and make them all at the same time. This will just depend on how much liquid your shaker can hold, of course.

Anyway, it's time to break out the shot glasses and get to bartending!

Step 1: Prepare the Sugar Rim

To make your sugared rim, start by pouring some sugar onto a small plate.

Then, grab your shot glass and rub a lemon slice along the shot glass for the sugar to adhere.

Next, roll your shot glass rim over the sugar until it's covered in it, and then set it aside for later.

    Step 2: Make the Cocktail

Now, grab your cocktail shaker and toss in your lemon wedges.

Using a muddler - or a small wooden spoon - and muddle each lemon wedge until it's nicely juiced and fragrant.

Then, add the vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup and shake the cocktail shaker vigorously until combined.

    Step 3: Serve and Enjoy!

Once you've given the cocktail shaker a good shake, add ice to your shot glass and strain the lemon drop shot into the glass and add a lemon slice to it. If you want to go the extra mile with your garnish, you can also add sugared lemon zest or even dip lemon wedges in sugar for a candied lemon.

Finally, serve the lemon drop shot and enjoy immediately!
