The Best Air Fryer Ham Steaks

This air fryer ham steak is a slice of satisfying meat that's great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And it really couldn't be any simpler to make!

Usually, you would fry ham steaks in a pan with a load of splattering oil, leaving you with a lot to clean up. But making ham steak in the air fryer is an easier process and a lot healthier too.

Even better yet, is the fact that this air fryer ham steak has a crunchy and sweet outer glaze while the inside is fork-tender and practically melts in your mouth!

By the way, if you're looking for something to serve with this ham steak recipe you could put it on this McDonalds McGriddle or egg McMuffin. Or you can serve them for dinner with something like this lasagna fritta for a big meal, or just garlic bread or cheesy bread for a lighter meal.

You could even chop it up and use it to make this ham and beans soup!

However you serve them, these easy ham steaks are sure to be the highlight of any meal!

    Ingredients

Ok, so all you need for this recipe are the ham steaks and a couple of pantry staples for the glaze.

And if you already keep ham steaks in your freezer, then you most likely have everything you need for this recipe already!

Anyway, with that said, here's what you'll need:

    • 2 ham steaks
    • 4 tbsp. butter, melted
    • 4 tbsp. brown sugar, packed

    It's that simple!

Sometimes all you really need for a tasty meal is a handful of ingredients and an air fryer! The brown sugar and butter are the perfect accompaniment to the salty ham and create a caramelized crust that is just irresistible.

Also, if you love air fryer recipes as much as I do you'll want to check out these air fryer tuna steaks and air fryer turkey bacon recipes next!

How to Make Air Fryer Ham Steaks

As I said before, this recipe really couldn't be easier.

It only takes around 15 minutes from start to finish, and most of that is cook time!

The air fryer literally does almost all of the work for you.

All you have to do is flip and baste in between cooking intervals and you're done.

It also doesn't take a lot of equipment, so cleaning up afterward will be quick and easy. Perfect for the end of a busy day.

Now, without further ado, let's grab our ham and get frying!

A spoon with brown sugar butter glaze on it spread in the glaze on top of an uncooked ham steak on a white plate.

Step 1: Prepare the Ham Steak

First, preheat your air fryer to 375ºF (190ºC).

While the air fryer is preheating, you can get started with the brown sugar glaze.

Mix the brown sugar and melted butter together in a bowl and set it aside for later. We'll baste the ham with this glaze as it air fries.

Step 2: Air Fry the Ham Steaks

Now it's time for basting and frying!

Lay the ham steak in the air fryer basket beside one another. Brush it liberally with half of the brown sugar and butter mixture on one side.

Then, air fry the steak for 10-12 minutes.

Halfway through the cooking time, open the air fryer basket, flip the ham steak, and brush the other side with the rest of the brown sugar butter. Now, close the air fryer and let the ham steak air fry the rest of the way to air fried perfection.

Once it's ready, remove the glazed ham steak from the air fryer basket, serve with your favorite side, and enjoy!

Storing and Reheating Your Ham Steak

This air fryer ham steak recipe makes fantastic leftovers and it tastes great both hot and cold. So I definitely recommend making some extra for dinner, lunch, or breakfast the next day.

With that said, you can store the leftover ham steaks in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

To reheat, I suggest popping them in the air fryer at 375ºF (190ºC) for a few minutes to crisp them up. And if you have any basting mixture left, you can give them a little extra for a boost of sweetness.

    Wrapping It Up

These easy ham steaks are a great main dish to have handy in the freezer for a quick weeknight meal.

And because you only need 3 ingredients and a few minutes, it's the perfect recipe to get you through busy weeknights or mornings.

Plus, it's guaranteed to be a hit with the whole family!
