My Take On Red Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms
Let's be real, Red Lobster's stuffed mushrooms are the best of the best.
Seriously, there's just something about them that's so good, and I crave them constantly! So, since that's the case, I decided to come up with a copycat version of them.
And, if I'm being honest, I think I did a pretty darn good job nailing this recipe. These stuffed mushrooms taste spot on to the restaurants. In fact, I think they might be even better - I didn't even think that was possible.
Now, as I alluded to just a second ago, these stuffed mushrooms don't just taste delicious though, they're also super easy to make. In fact, just 4 simple steps and 10 minutes of prep work are all that's needed to whip 'em up.
Honestly, they're such a breeze to make that I usually enlist my 2-year-old to help me with some of the steps. It's a great way to spend a little father-daughter time, and also get some free labor too.
By the way, if you're looking for a few other side dishes to pair these stuffed mushrooms with, I usually put them out with these blackened salmon bites, this Little Caesars crazy bread, and/or this sweet corn cake. Those combos are always a hit.
With that said though, the best thing to pair with 'em are these Bisquick cheddar bay biscuits. Yup, they're the same biscuits you get at the restaurant. So, so good!
Ingredients
My favorite thing about this copycat Red Lobster recipe is that it's made with simple, common ingredients.
You probably have most - if not all - of them at home already!
Anyway, here's what you'll need to make these crab stuffed mushrooms:
- 15 white mushrooms
- ¼ lb. crab claw meat
- 2 tablespoon chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon chopped red bell pepper
- 1 cup goldfish crackers or plain saltine crackers
- ½ cup mild cheddar cheese, finely grated
- ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 small egg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- A splash of olive oil
Now, when you look at the ingredient list for these stuffed mushrooms, it sounds a bit odd. I mean, crackers, crab, chopped mushroom stems, and cheese? You'd never guess - until you eat one - that this odd combination of ingredients can combine to make something so, so delicious. But I'm here to say that it does.
By the way, if you like mushrooms, you have to give this mushroom casserole or chicken mushroom casserole a try next! My wife love, love, loves mushrooms, and they're two of her favorites. They are also just a great way to use up any extra mushrooms you might have on hand after you make this recipe.
My Tips For Substituting Ingredients
Now, I used carb claw meat for this recipe, but you can use any carb meat that you're able to find at your local grocery store.
As for the mushrooms, white button mushrooms work best, but you can use any that are similar in shape.
By the way, you can use a lot of these ingredients to make this seafood stuffing, so you might want to check that out next!
How To Make Red Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms
Again, this recipe is actually really quick and easy to make, considering the result.
From start to finish you're looking at 30 minutes to make these stuffed mushrooms, but most of that time is passive cooking that happens in the oven. There's actually only about 10 minutes of active prep work and active cooking that you'll have to do yourself.
That means you'll be able to prepare another appetizer while these mushrooms are baking!
Anyway, let's stop wasting time and dive into this copycat recipe!
Step 1: Prep Work
First things first preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Then, heat some oil in a skillet set over medium-high heat. Now, add the celery, onion, and bell pepper to it and cook them for about 2 minutes.
While the veggies are cooking, wash the mushrooms and remove the stems from each one. Then, chop up the stems. Now, once the mushroom stems are chopped up you can add them to the skillet with the veggie mixture. Cook everything until soft and translucent.
Step 2: Make The Stuffing
Once the veggies are cooked, transfer all of them to a bowl.
Then, add the crab claw meat, crushed crackers, half the cheddar cheese, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, egg, and salt and pepper to the bowl. Give everything a couple of stirs until the stuffing mixture is well combined.
Step 3: Stuff The Mushrooms
Now, place the mushroom caps in a baking dish that is big enough to fit all of them in so they can lay flat.
Then, fill the mushrooms evenly with the prepared mixture. Finally, to finish them off, sprinkle the mushrooms with the remaining cheddar cheese.
Step 4: Bake The Mushrooms
Once the crab stuffed mushrooms are good to go, put the baking dish in the oven and bake the mushroom caps for about 15 minutes or until they are lightly browned.
Finally, serve the mushrooms warm, and enjoy!
My Recommendations For Storing Your Leftover Stuffed Mushrooms
This recipe for Red Lobster stuffed mushrooms will make 15 mushrooms. But, if you want more, just double - or triple - the ingredients. Also, they make awesome leftovers, so don't worry about making too many.
Speaking of leftovers, you can store your leftover mushrooms in an airtight container and they'll stay good in the fridge for up to 3 to 5 days. Alternatively, to store them even longer, you can put the cooled mushrooms in a freezer-safe container - or bag - and freeze them for up to 3 months.
My Recommendations For Reheating Your Crab Stuffed Mushrooms
Whenever you want to enjoy the leftovers, the best way to reheat them is to put them back in the oven. So, to reheat 'em like that you'll just want to place the mushroom caps in a baking dish and warm them at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes.
With that said though, if you want to warm them up as fast as possible the microwave is your best. I recommend putting your leftover mushrooms on a microwave-safe plate, then cover them with a wet paper towel, and cook 'em for 30 seconds to a minute.
My Final Thoughts
Well, that's how to make Red Lobster's crab stuffed mushrooms at home!
With minimal prep time and a handful of simple ingredients, you can have this delicious appetizer hot and ready to serve for any occasion.
Honestly, these crab stuffed mushrooms are filled with so much flavor everyone will think that you got them catered! Whenever I serve them, my friends and family simply can't get enough of 'em. In fact, people love 'em so much that I've had to give the recipe away several times now.

Red Lobster does do a great job with the stuffed mushrooms and this recipe was very close.

According to the Red Lobster menu in my hometown of Orlando the stuffing uses Monterey Jack. It was the only change I made to your recipe and it was delish!!

Hi I want to make this recipe but I wanted to know if I specifically have to buy crab claw meat or if white crab meat would work as well? Would it make a big difference in taste texture? Thank you in advance!
Brendan Cunningham
White crab meat should work great!
