The Best Ruth Chris Lobster Mac and Cheese Recipe

Lobster mac n cheese is a dish that combines nostalgic mac and cheese with luxurious lobster to create one of the most delicious combos out there.

And this lobster mac and cheese tastes just like the one from Ruth Chris. It's a recipe that brings a high-quality, restaurant-style meal into the comfort of your own home. Not to mention, it's filled with ooey-gooey cheese and decadent lobster to give you one indulgent meal.

Plus, it's way cheaper to make than ordering out at a restaurant - let's be honest RC ain't cheap - and is surprisingly simple to make too!

So, with that said, this Ruth Chris lobster mac and cheese recipe is perfect to make if you're hosting and want to impress your guests, or if you want to treat your family to a divine meal, but want to save a buck or two doing it.

By the way, for a full Ruth's Chris Steakhouse experience at home, you can make this Ruth Chris sweet potato casserole, Ruth Chris creamed spinach, and Ruth Chris stuffed chicken recipe!

    Ingredients

Now, the star of this recipe is the lobster, and it's really the only not-so-common ingredient that you'll have to get. Everything else is pretty standard, and some might be in your kitchen already!

    Here's everything you'll need:

    • 2 lobster tails, cooked and chopped
    • 2 ½ cups cheddar cheese freshly shredded and divided
    • ½ cup gruyere cheese shredded
    • ½ cup parmesan cheese grated
    • ½ stick butter
    • 3 tablespoons flour
    • 2 cups whole milk
    • 1 teaspoons salt
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ½ teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
    • ½ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
    • Pepper to taste
    • ½ pound elbow macaroni pasta cooked

I know the ingredient list seems extensive, but most of it is pantry staples that you'll need to make the mac and cheese sauce!

Also, I think what takes this lobster mac and cheese recipe to the top is using a three-cheese blend. It really elevates the flavor and makes it so rich, creamy, and velvety - so don't sleep on it.

By the way, if you like pasta, cheese, and seafood, you'll want to give this Olive Garden chicken and shrimp carbonara recipe a try next!

How to Make Ruth Chris Lobster Mac and Cheese

As I've already mentioned, this Ruth's Chris lobster mac and cheese recipe is super indulgent and oh so delicious.

It's basically just grilling some lobster and making a perfect mac and cheese base to add with it.

So, with all that said, get out your ingredients, and let's get cooking!

A hand holding a wooden spoon stirring around shredded cheese and sauce and a black skillet. In front of it is part of a white bowl that is filled with elbow macaroni noodles.

    Step 1: Prep Work

First, you'll want to preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C) so it's ready for baking the dish later.

Then, heat a pan on the stove - or a gas grill - over high heat and add a little olive oil to the surface of it.

Now once the pan is hot, put the lobster tails on it, and grill them for about 10 minutes depending on the size of them - you want them to reach an internal of 140°F and not much more.

With that said, while the lobster is cooking, put a pot of salted water on the stovetop, and cook the macaroni according to the directions on the package.

Elbow macaroni noodles, pieces of lobster, and cheese sauce all in a black skillet on a gray counter.

Step 2: Making The Cheese Sauce

To make the cheese sauce, start by putting a large saucepan over medium heat, add the butter and flour to it, and stir for about 3 minutes until thickened.

Then, slowly whisk in the milk a little at a time. The slower you add the milk, the thicker the sauce will be.

Next, add the cheddar cheese, gruyere cheese, and parmesan cheese into the sauce and stir them into the sauce. And make sure to save a little of each to top it off before baking.

After that, add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, mustard powder, and nutmeg to the sauce and stir everything to combine.

A lobster tail in the center of shredded cheese on top of mac and cheese all in a white casserole dish. The dish is on a square hot plate on a grey counter.

    Step 3: Combining & Baking

Now add the cooked macaroni noodles and lobster tails to the sauce and stir everything until it's thoroughly combined. You can also cut the lobster tails into bite-sized pieces at this point as well. It just depends on how you'd like the lobster mac and cheese to look when it's ready to serve it.

Anyway, now you'll want to spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray and transfer the lobster mac n cheese to it. Sprinkle all of the three kinds of cheese that you set aside on top, and bake for about 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and it's golden brown.

Finally, serve up generous portions of this luxurious dish and enjoy!

How to Store Lobster Mac and Cheese

This Ruth's Chris lobster mac and cheese recipe will make about 6 servings. And if you're serving it for dinner, I doubt there will be any leftovers.

But if you make it for date night - or just to treat yourself - you can look forward to having the same meal the next few days! And storing it is a breeze. Once the lobster mac & cheese has cooled, transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Two hands holding two spoons with some mac & cheese between the two being pulled from a white casserole dish that is filled with lobster Mac and cheese.

How To Reheat Lobster Mac and Cheese

For the best reheated experience, I suggest putting your leftovers back in a baking dish and heating it in the oven. Reheat the dish at 300°F (150°C) in the oven for about 15 minutes - or until it is warmed through.

I do not recommend using the microwave to reheat the mac and cheese since it contains seafood and it can make the lobster super rubbery.

    Wrapping It All Up

Well, that is how to make lobster mac and cheese Ruth Chris style!

This dish is the perfect blend of luxury and comfort food. The melty cheeses and succulent pieces of lobster will have you in food heaven in just one bite.

So, next time you want a meal that won't disappoint, you have to give this one a try!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this lobster mac and cheese recipe as much as everyone who made it has. If you try it, leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts!

And if you want to give some more seafood recipes a try, these Red Lobster stuffed mushrooms or shrimp pasta next.

This was delicious!!!! I did not have mustard powder so I used half turmeric and half caraway seeds. I also did not have gruyere so I grated from a block of garlic cheddar. I finished it by boiling it for 2 mins to brown the top. It was amazing. Thank you 🙂
