Ingredients You'll Need
- Brewed espresso- I like to use the Starbucks blonde roast espresso. Sometimes I make it fresh, and other times I just buy the premade Starbucks espresso at the grocery store.
- Brown sugar syrup- You can use any premade syrup or try my homemade recipe below.
- Creamy oat milk- I like to use unsweetened vanilla oat milk since there's sugar in the brown sugar syrup.
- Ground cinnamon- Adds another dimension of spiced flavor.
How To Make A Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso
Step 1: Shake the espresso. Fill a cocktail shaker or glass jar halfway with ice cubes, then add the espresso and brown sugar cinnamon syrup. Seal it with a lid and shake it vigorously to combine everything together.
Step 2: Add the oat milk. Pour the mixed espresso into the serving cup of your choice and add the oat milk to it. Sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on top, and enjoy!
How To Make Homemade Brown Sugar Syrup
If you want to feel like a true barista, you can make your own brown sugar cinnamon syrup at home. Add a ½ cup of brown sugar, ½ cup of water, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a ½ teaspoon of cinnamon to a saucepan. Heat it on medium heat and whisk to combine. As soon as it starts to simmer, lower the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Once the sugar has dissolved and thickened, remove it from the heat and set aside.
Let it cool to room temperature, and transfer it to a mason jar or other airtight container. It makes enough for about four drinks and will last stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
