The Best Buffalo Chicken Dip
Since I live in Buffalo, I, of course, love pretty much any recipe that involves Buffalo sauce. I'll admit, it feels weird to write the words Buffalo sauce, here in Buffalo it's just hot sauce.
Anyway, out of all the recipes out there that have Buffalo chicken in 'em, this Crock Pot Buffalo chicken dip recipe might just be my favorite one! I mean, it's just so delicious. It has the perfect balance of rich, creamy, and spicy flavors, and then to make it even better, there's loads of ooey-gooey melted shredded cheese on top of it.
Gah, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it, and I love that it goes with pretty much anything. From tortilla chips and crackers to carrots and celery sticks, everyone will be able to find something to dip into this Crockpot Buffalo chicken dip they'll love.
Plus, in addition to being super tasty, it's also super convenient to make. You can literally whip up this easy buffalo chicken dip with just 5 minutes of prep work. All you have to do is add the ingredients to your Crock Pot - or slow cooker - and let it do its thing - that's all there is to it.
Oh, and since this Crock Pot Buffalo chicken dip recipe is all passive cooking, you'll have plenty of time to whip up some equally delicious appetizers to go with it, like these pigs in a blanket and this cheese ball.

Ingredients
One of the things I love most about this Buffalo chicken dip recipe is how simple the ingredient list is. Honestly, you probably already have most - if not all - of the ingredients you'll need to make it on hand already.
Anyway, here's what you'll need:
- 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken breast
- 4 oz. cream cheese
- ⅓ cup buffalo sauce
- ½ cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese)
- ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Tortilla chips, or favorite crackers, to serve with
Not too shabby, eh?
By the way, you can use all of these ingredients to make my incredible crock pot chicken wings, Buffalo chicken casserole recipe, or this Buffalo chicken dip without cream cheese. They're three more of my favorite recipes that use Buffalo sauce, so I definitely suggest giving them a shot next!
Oh, and if you need some shredded chicken to use, you can make this frozen chicken in the crock pot first.
Ingredient Substitutions And Suggestions
While I recommend making this crockpot Buffalo wing dip recipe with the ingredients listed above, there is definitely some room to switch it up if you want.
Use Rotisserie Chicken
This recipe calls for cooked shredded chicken, so feel free to use whatever leftover chicken you have. I always tend to have a rotisserie chicken in my fridge, and I think it's a great way to add extra flavor to this dip without having to do any extra work.
With that said, if you're in a pinch, you can always use canned chicken too.
Swap Ranch For Blue Cheese
When it comes to Buffalo chicken wings - or really anything with Buffalo sauce - you're either team ranch or team blue cheese. In Buffalo, we're all team blue cheese. Seriously, any true Buffalonian despises ranch dressing. With that said though, you can definitely swap out the blue cheese dressing for ranch dressing when you make your wing dip if you're "team ranch."
Add An Extra Kick
If this Buffalo chicken dip isn't spicy enough for you, then you can add an extra dash of your favorite hot sauce. Honestly, I usually just set out a bottle of hot sauce alongside the dip, so guests can add their own if they want to kick up the heat.
How To Make Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip
Now it's time for the fun part - it's time to make this crockpot Buffalo chicken wing dip recipe!
I hate to sound like a broken record, but I can not stress enough just how easy it is to make this wing dip recipe. I mean, how can you beat a recipe that requires minimal effort and just a few minutes of your time?
Speaking of time, let's stop wasting it and get cooking, shall we?!
Step 1: Combine The Ingredients
First things first, if you haven't done so already, you'll want to shred the cooked chicken.
Then, you can add the shredded chicken, cream cheese, Buffalo sauce, half of the shredded cheese, and ranch dressing - or blue cheese - to your Crockpot or slow cooker.
Step 2: Cook The Dip
Once you've added all of the ingredients to the Crock Pot, place the lid on it and set it to low heat for 2-3 hours or high heat for 1-2 hours. Also, make sure you check back every 30 minutes and give the ingredients a good stir as they cook.
You'll know your Buffalo chicken dip is ready when all of the cheese has melted and the dip is nice and hot.
Step 3: Add The Remaining Cheese and Serve
After the dip is finished cooking, open the lid and add the remaining shredded cheddar cheese to the Crock Pot. Then you can put the lid back on and continue cooking until the cheese on top has melted.
Last but not least, serve the dip warm with your favorite chips, crackers, or veggies.
Enjoy!
How To Store Buffalo Chicken Dip
This recipe for Buffalo chicken dip makes 8 servings, so it should be the perfect dip to make for your next game day party, Super Bowl party, or get-together. Also, this dip makes for awesome leftovers, so consider yourself lucky if you end up with extra!
Speaking of leftovers, if you end up with some leftover Buffalo chicken dip, just transfer it to an airtight container and keep it in the fridge. The cooked chicken will last for about 3-4 days in the fridge, so depending on when your chicken is from will determine how long you can store the dip.
How To Reheat Buffalo Chicken Dip
It's super easy to reheat your slow cooker Buffalo chicken dip after it's been stored. To reheat the dip, simply transfer it back to your Crockpot - or slow cooker - and heat it on low until it's fully warmed through.
Alternatively, to heat the dip even quicker, you can pop it in the microwave in 30-second intervals until it's fully reheated.
Wrapping It Up
Well, that's how to make Buffalo chicken dip in the Crockpot. Just a few simple steps is all it takes.
I know I'm biased, but I really do think this is the best Buffalo chicken wing dip recipe out there. The Crockpot just makes it so easy, and this dip comes out incredibly rich, creamy, cheesy, and filled with flavor.
