The Best Pan Fried Noodles
There's nothing better than a quick and easy take-out dinner. And although it's convenient to order it out, it's also expensive. So, that's where this pan fried noodles recipe comes in.
This recipe will bring a takeout-style meal - with restaurant quality deliciousness - to your dinner table and all you have to do is invest about 10 minutes worth of your time to make it.
It's seriously so simple to make these fried noodles. Honestly, it might even be easier than ordering take-out. Not to mention, these soy sauce pan fried noodles taste 10x better than anything you'd be able to order.
Also, since these noodles are such a breeze to make, you'll have plenty of time to make something just as yummy to go with them - like these air fryer egg rolls, these Chinese green beans, or even these honey glazed carrots.
Ingredients
Something else I love about this fried noodle recipe is that you only need a handful of basic ingredients to make it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you have a most - if not all - of them on hand already!
Anyway, here's what you'll need to make these crispy noodles:
- 0.75lb. fresh noodles (I used egg noodles)
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil or olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1-2 spring onions, thinly sliced, white and dark green parts divided
- 1 cup bean sprouts
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
And here's what you'll need for the homemade sauce:
- 2 ½ tablespoon soy sauce (or dark soy sauce)
- ½ tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 pinch of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon water
That's hardly anything, but the results are everything!
By the way, you can use a lot of the same ingredients to make this shrimp lo mein. So if you're looking for another classic take-out meal you can make at home, I definitely suggest checking that out next.
Ingredient Substitutions and Suggestions
These pan-fried noodles are best made with the ingredients listed above, but there are some modifications you can make to change things up and possibly save yourself a trip to the store.
First off, this recipe calls for fresh noodles, like egg noodles. But you can also use chow mein noodles, yakisoba noodles, or lo mein noodles. With that said, I like to use thin noodles since I like the texture when they're fried, but you can use thicker noodles if you prefer those.
Another way to change up this recipe is by adding some of your favorite vegetables to make it more of a noodle stir fry. You can add things like baby corn, broccoli, bok choy, shredded carrots, and water chestnuts. Basically, anything you think would pair well with the flavor of soy sauce will work well with these pan-fried noodles.
How To Make Pan Fried Noodles
As I mentioned before, these pan-fried noodles are super quick and easy to make.
All you have to do is mix the sauce ingredients, cook the veggies and noodles, and then combine everything together.
Yep, that's it!
So without further ado, let's not waste another second and get cooking!
Step 1: Make The Soy Sauce
First, you're going to start by making the flavorful sauce.
To make the sauce, you'll want to take out a bowl and add the soy sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and water to it. Then, you can give all of these ingredients a good mix until they fully combine, and set the sauce aside for later.
Step 2: Prepare The Noodles
Next, you can take out a large skillet or wok, add the oil of your choice to it, and heat it over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, you can add the garlic to the wok along with the white part of the spring onion. Then, you can cook the two together until they become fragrant. When that happens, you can add the fresh noodles to the wok and then give everything a good stir.
Step 3: Cook The Noodles
Now that the noodles are prepared, you can pour all of the mixed sauce into the pan and stir the noodles to coat them.
Then, you'll want to cook the noodles for about 2-3 minutes, stirring them around the pan frequently until they are tender and slightly crisp on the outside.
Once the noodles are cooked, you can add the bean sprouts, the remaining green part of the spring onion, and a little drizzle of sesame oil on top. Finally, give the noodles a gentle toss and then serve 'em warm. Enjoy!
How To Store Pan Fried Noodles
This recipe for pan-fried noodles makes 2 servings. And, honestly, whether you're sharing 'em or cooking 'em for yourself, they're so good that I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have any leftovers. With that said, you can always double or triple the recipe if you want to make sure you have some noodles for the next day.
Then, if you have any leftovers, you can store them in the fridge for about 3-5 days. Just make sure to store them in a sealed bag or container.
Oh, and if you want to keep your noodles for even longer, you can just transfer them to a freezer-safe bag/container and store them in it for 1-2 months.
How To Reheat Pan Fried Noodles
When you're ready to enjoy these crispy noodles again, you'll definitely want to reheat them first. So, to reheat your leftover noodles, just transfer them to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second increments - stirring between each one - until heated through.
You can also heat the noodles in a pan again on the stovetop at medium heat for about 2-3 minutes or until warm. Also, to keep the noodles from drying out, add a bit of soy sauce - or hoisin sauce - to the pan and continuously mix the noodles as they're reheating.
Wrapping It Up
Well, that's how to make pan fried noodles at home!
These restaurant-worthy fried noodles are seriously some of the best you'll ever make. From the blend of flavors to the perfectly crisp and tender noodles, they're just so good! And the fact that they're so quick and easy to make is just an added bonus.
Anyway, I hope you love this recipe as much as I/wee do.
