How To Make Apple Dumplings with Crescent Rolls
1. Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray. Next, wash, peel, and core the apples. Then cut each apple in half and each half into 8 apple slices.
2. Wrap the apple slices: Unwrap the crescent roll dough and separate the triangles. Place the apple slice onto the wider part of the crescent roll triangle and roll it up. Arrange the wrapped apple rolls evenly in the prepared baking dish.
3. Assemble: Combine butter with brown sugar and cinnamon in a pot. Set it over medium heat and stir until melted together. As soon as the butter melts, give it one more good mix to fully combine. Pour the melted butter cinnamon mixture over the crescent rolls. Then for the secret ingredient, pour the lemon-lime soda between all of the rolls.
4. Bake and serve: Bake the apple dumplings in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes until they are fluffy and golden brown. Serve warm with some vanilla ice cream, and enjoy!
Tips To Make The Best Recipe
- Swap cinnamon for apple pie spice for a more enhanced apple flavor.
- Don't pour the lemon-lime soda over the top of the crescent rolls. Make sure to pour soda in between the rolls so the crescent roll tops don't get soggy.
- If you don't have lemon-lime soda, you can use any citrus soda like Mountain Dew or even ginger ale if you don't like citrus flavor.
- Check on the apple dumplings at the 35-minute mark to make sure they don't overcook.
- For the best way to serve apple dumplings, put a few warm crescent roll apple dumplings on a plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Then add a drizzle of caramel sauce and some whipped cream for the ultimate decadent dessert.
How To Store Apple Dumplings with Crescent Rolls
At room temperature: Store any leftover apple dumplings in an airtight container on the kitchen counter for up to 2 days.
In the fridge: Transfer the apple dumplings in the airtight container to the fridge, and they'll last for about 4 days.
In the freezer: Put the leftovers in a freezer-safe bag with the excess air squeezed out or in a freezer-safe container and freeze for about 2 months.
Reheating: You can either microwave an individual apple dumpling in 20-second increments or put a few in a baking dish and warm in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Let the frozen dumplings thaw in the fridge overnight or add more reheating time.

Nancy
The recipe looks delicious but the sugar ingredients are 0? Can you lighten the butter and sugar here? Would brown swerve sugar suffice? Thank you in advance.
Brendan Cunningham
Hi Nancy! Yes brown swerve should work great
Kay
