Ingredients
Another thing I love about this Amish country casserole recipe is that it's made with such simple pantry ingredients. You probably have more than half of them on hand!
Check out everything you'll need to make this recipe:
- 12 oz. (340g) egg noodles
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 ½ cup canned tomato soup
- 1 ½ cup canned cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp. minced garlic
- 2 tbsp. dried onion flakes
- ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
By the way, you can use a lot of these ingredients to make this Amish hamburger casserole or classic hamburger noodle casserole, so consider giving that one a try next.
How To Make Amish Country Casserole
1. Prep work: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180ºC) and grease a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Cook the egg noodles: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook egg noodles according to the package directions. As soon as they finish cooking, drain well and set aside.
3. Cook the ground beef: While the noodles are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef to the skillet, and cook, breaking it apart until it's browned on all sides. Season with a dash of salt and pepper to taste, drain the excess grease, and set the cooked ground beef aside.
4. Combine the cream sauce: In a large bowl, stir together the tomato soup, cream of chicken soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion flakes, and a dash of salt and pepper. Mix well until all of these ingredients combine into a smooth sauce.
5. Build the casserole: Add the cooked egg noodles and cooked ground beef mixture to the bowl of sauce. Give everything a mix to coat the noodles and beef in the sauce. Spread this mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish and top it with parmesan cheese.
6. Bake and serve: Bake this Amish casserole dish for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Once it's done, serve warm and enjoy!
Tips To Make The Best Recipe
- Mix the noodles in some oil after they cook to keep them from sticking.
- Substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup for a different flavor.
- Experiment with adding ingredients like sour cream, sliced bell pepper, or red pepper flakes.
- Use ground turkey or ground chicken for a leaner casserole.
- Cook the pasta to al dente as it will cook more with the rest of the ingredients when the casserole bakes.
- Top the casserole with shredded cheddar cheese for a cheesier casserole.
- Serve your Amish casserole with garlic bread or a light green salad for a complete meal.
How To Store Amish Casserole
In the fridge: Store the leftover cooked Amish casserole in an airtight container or in the baking dish with a lid on it in the fridge for up to 4 days.
In the freezer: Allow the Amish casserole to cool completely, then transfer it to a freezer-safe container or bag and freeze for up to 4 months.
Reheating: Put the casserole back in a baking dish and warm in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until it's heated through. Let the frozen casserole thaw in the fridge overnight or add more reheating time.

Brendan Cunningham
Hi Gayle, I used chicken but both work great!

This sounds awesome! One question: your egg noodles in the little nests. How do you do that? Is this necessary?
Brendan Cunningham
Hi Roberta! It isn't necessary at all that's just how they come from the store.
Kari
You have the nutritional information, but not what 1 serving is equal to, unless I missed it. Is it a cup? Is it 4 oz?
Brendan Cunningham
Yes a serving is about a cup
