23 Vegan Protein Bars | The Best Vegan Bars You Can Buy RIGHT NOW 2021

    Published: May 5, 2021 · Modified: Aug 19, 2021 · By: Brendan Cunningham

If you've been struggling to find vegan protein bars, this list is for you! I scanned the grocery store shelves, and countless nutrition labels to find the BEST vegan protein bars you can buy right now. And there's something for everyone on this list. So, no matter what flavor you're in the mood for, whether it's chocolate, banana, peanut butter, berry, or somewhere in between, you'll find it here.

A compilation of a hand holding 5 different protein bars. There's text on the photo that reads "23 absolute best vegan protein bars".

    THE BEST VEGAN PROTEIN BARS

Protein bars are one of the best vegan snacks you can have - they are easy to eat on the go, and you can bring them with you practically anywhere.

And some of the bars on this list can even supplement a meal when you're in a pinch!

Not to mention, many of these are clean vegan protein bars and are low in sugar and high in fiber, so they're good for your gut micro-biome!

Oh, and since it can be hard to get protein in when following a vegan diet, these bars make an excellent plant-based option to up your protein intake with.

That said, let's get into the list!

    1. GOMACRO

A hand holding a wrapped gomacro banana plus almond butter flavored bar

First up on the list is GoMacro - an organic, gluten-free, and vegan protein bar.

GoMacro bars have become super popular over the past few years, and for a good reason. Each bar is priced at $2.49 in stores, and they are higher in protein and calories, making them a good meal substitute.

And what's great about the GoMacro vegan protein bars is there are 12 different flavors! So if you like a bar with a ton of variety, this one is for you.

Some of the other flavors they come in are...peanut butter chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, maple sea salt, banana + almond, & dark chocolate + almonds.

Below is the full nutritional breakdown of the banana +almond flavor:

    • 280 Calories
    • 12 g Fat
    • 35 g Carbs
    • 3 g Fiber
    • 12 g Sugars
    • 11 g Protein

    2. Stoka Bar

A hand holding a wrapped sea salt caramel flavored Stoka bar

Next on the list of protein bars is this Stoka bar.

The flavors to choose from are sea salt caramel, peanut chocolate chip, and cocoa almond.

These bars are also priced at $2.49 per bar.

With that said, I think the GoMacro bar is a better value for this price since it has more protein and flavors to choose from.

That said, the Stoka bars are lower in carbs and higher in fat, making them a good low carb option.

Check out the full nutritional breakdown of the sea salt caramel flavor:

    • 250 Calories
    • 22 g Fat
    • 17 g Carbs
    • 6 g Fiber
    • 2 g Sugars
    • 9 g Protein

    3. Dang Bar

A hand holding a wrapped almond cookie dang bar.

Coming up next is this almond cookie flavored dang bar.

Other flavors for this dang bar are chocolate, peanut butter, toasted coconut, lemon matcha, and mint chocolate.

This bar comes in at a lower price than the Stoka bar at $1.99 per bar in stores.

Also, this dang bar is a good low carb option since it only has 11g of carbs per bar.

The rest of the nutritional info for the almond cookie flavor is below:

    • 210 Calories
    • 15 g Fat
    • 11 g Carbs
    • 6 g Fiber
    • 3 g Sugars
    • 9 g Protein

    4. Luna Mash-Ups

A hand holding a wrapped Luna mash-ups peanut butter plus fudge bar.

Next up, we have this Luna mash-ups bar.

The bar options are peanut butter and fudge and lemon zest and blueberry, with the two flavors in each bar "mashing" together to create one tasty bar.

These are priced in stores at only $1.00 per bar, making it the best value on the list.

And, for only a dollar you get a bar that has a decent amount of fiber, isn't too high in sugar, and has a moderate amount of protein.

Check out the full nutritional breakdown for the peanut butter and fudge flavor:

    • 200 Calories
    • 8 g Fat
    • 26 g Carbs
    • 4 g Fiber
    • 8 g Sugars
    • 8 g Protein

    5. Luna

A hand holding a wrapped Luna nutz over chocolate flavored bar

Coming from the same brand of protein bars is Luna's traditional bar.

Luna offers a ton of flavors for this bar: chocolate peppermint stick, creamy peanut butter, dipped coconut, s'mores, nutz over chocolate, tangerine zest, white chocolate macadamia, and wild cherry.

Also, the tangerine zest and wild cherry flavors have 2.5g of probiotics which is beneficial for the growth of healthy gut bacteria.

Now, as far as the price goes, I found the original Luna bar was also only $1.00, making it an excellent value for a vegan protein bar.

The nutritional breakdown for the nutz over chocolate flavor - as seen in the photo above - is listed down below. As you'll notice, the nutritional info on these bars is similar to the Luna mash-ups bar:

    • 210 Calories
    • 10 g Fat
    • 24 g Carbs
    • 3 g Fiber
    • 7 g Sugars
    • 9 g Protein

By the way, Luna also offers a high protein bar that I wasn't able to find in stores. There is 12g of plant-protein per bar in these high protein ones, and they come in 9 different flavors!

    6. Nugo Dark

A hand holding a wrapped nugo dark chocolate pretzel bar.

Another well-priced bar coming in at $1.79 is this NuGO Dark bar.

This bar is gluten-free, along with being vegan, and you have a few flavors to choose from: chocolate pretzel with sea salt, mint chocolate chip, chocolate chocolate chip, peanut butter cup, chocolate coconut, and mocha chocolate.

This bar is slightly higher in sugar, but it does have a good amount of protein.

Here is the nutritional breakdown of the chocolate pretzel with sea salt flavor:

    • Calories: 200
    • 6 g Fat
    • 25 g Carbs
    • 2 g Fiber
    • 14 g Sugar
    • 12 g Protein

    7. NuGo Slim

A hand holding a wrapped nugo slim crunchy peanut butter bar

From the same protein bars brand, NuGO, is this "slim" version of their traditional protein bar.

It is also priced at $1.79 per bar in stores, and it's an excellent price for everything you get.

The flavors for this bar include crunchy peanut butter, chocolate mint, brownie crunch, espresso, roasted peanut, raspberry truffle, and toasted coconut.

The bar is called NuGO "slim" because it has fewer carbs and more protein than the bar above. The high protein and fiber make this the perfect bar to have as a snack to hold you over during the day.

Here is the nutritional breakdown for the crunchy peanut butter flavor:

    • 180 Calories
    • 8 g Fat
    • 17 g Carbs
    • 3 g Sugars
    • 6 g Fiber
    • 16 g Protein

    8. CLIF NUT BUTTER BAR

A hand holding a wrapped Clif nut butter bar peanut butter falvored.

Next up on our vegan protein bar list is a bar that is very well known, Clif!

This bar is like a classic Clif bar, but it is filled with nut butter, giving you a deliciously creamy protein bar.

This bar costs $1.29 in stores and offers some unique flavor combinations: chocolate hazelnut butter, chocolate peanut butter, coconut almond butter, maple almond butter, peanut butter, and tart cherry berry.

Also, these Clif bars are pretty filling since it is like eating a spoonful of nut butter in a bar.

That said, here's the nutritional breakdown for the peanut butter flavor:

    • 230 Calories
    • 11 g Fat
    • 27 g Carbs
    • 3 g Fiber
    • 10 g Sugars
    • 7 g Protein

    9. CLIF BUILDER BAR

A hand holding a wrapped Clif builders bar mint chocolate flavored.

Coming from the same bar brand is this Clif Builder Bar.

This bar is Clif's high protein bar with 20g of protein in each bar! And for only $1.59 per bar, this is the best high protein bar value you can get.

Oh, and it's also an excellent option if you need a meal replacement bar.

Flavors include chocolate peanut butter, vanilla almond, cinnamon nut swirl, chocolate, chocolate mint, and crunchy peanut butter.

By the way, there is also a cookies n' cream flavor, but you'll want to stay away from it since it contains milk.

That said, the nutrition for the chocolate mint flavor is below:

    • 280 Calories
    • 9 g Fat
    • 31 g Carbs
    • 3 g Fiber
    • 17 g Sugars
    • 20 g Protein

    10. Vega Sport Protein Bar

A hand holding a wrapped crunchy peanut butter vega sport protein bar

Next, we have a bar from a brand that is 100% plant-based - Vega.

This vega sport protein bar is the perfect post-workout bar. It is packed with 20g of protein, has tart cherry in it, and has 3.5g of BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids).

The tart cherry aids in exercise recovery, and don't worry, you can't even taste it in the bar.

Also, if you didn't know, BCAAs are a group of amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They are the building blocks of protein, and they have been shown to aid in muscle recovery and decrease muscle fatigue and muscle soreness.

This bar is a little pricer at $2.49 in stores, but considering everything in the bar, I think it's well worth the price.

The flavor I found is crunchy peanut butter, and Vega also offers crispy mint chocolate.

Here is the nutritional breakdown of the crunchy peanut butter:

    • 300 Calories
    • 11 g Fat
    • 26 g Carbs
    • 3 g Fiber
    • 14 g Sugars
    • 20 g Protein

    11. Vega Protein Bar

Another bar offered by the vegan company Vega is this Vega Protein Bar.

This bar is Vega's classic protein bar, and it is also packed with 20g of protein.

You can enjoy this before or after physical activity, as a snack, or even as a meal replacement.

This bar is priced slightly lower than the sport version at $1.99 per bar.

That said, I found the chocolate peanut butter flavor, but there is also salted caramel.

Here is the nutrition info for the chocolate peanut butter:

    • 290 Calories
    • 10 g Fat
    • 27 g Carbs
    • 4 g Fiber
    • 18 g Sugars
    • 20 g Protein

    12. Vega Protein Snack Bar

A hand holding a wrapped vega protein snack bar coconut almond flavored.

A third bar offered by Vega is this Vega Protein Snack Bar.

Like the one above, it is $1.99 per bar.

The difference between the bars is that this one is lower in protein and calories - making it a great bar if you're not hungry but need a little something to hold you over until your next meal.

There are four flavors offered in this bar: blueberry oat, chocolate caramel, coconut almond, and chocolate peanut butter.

The nutrition for the coconut almond is below:

    • 7 g Fat
    • 22 g Carbs

    • 10 g Protein

    13. think! High Protein Bar

A hand holding a wrapped mint chocolatet hink! bar

The following bar on our vegan protein bar list is this "think!" high protein bar.

There are three delicious flavors offered for this bar: chocolate mint, peanut butter chocolate chip, and sea salt almond chocolate.

These protein bars are lower in sugar and have a moderate protein content, making it a tremendous value at only $1.65 per bar!

Check out the rest of the nutrition for the chocolate mint flavor:

    • 230 Calories
    • 8 g Fat
    • 28 g Carbs
    • 3 g Fiber
    • 5 g Sugars
    • 13 g Protein

    14. Garden of Life High Protein Weight Loss Bar

A hand holding a wrapped chocolate fudge garden of life high protein fat loss bar

Next up is one my favorite protein bars on the list, Garden of Life's organic high protein weight loss bar.

This bar is also super healthy - it has 14g of prebiotic fiber, 14g of protein, and only 1g of sugar.

The bar is only 200 calories but keeps you full for a long time since it has so much fiber.

Plus, the bar contains organic Svetol green coffee bean extract and organic ashwagandha - both are effective in burning fat and fighting cravings.

At $2.49 per bar, it is a more than reasonable price since it has so many good things in it.

That said, there are a wide variety of flavors of this bar: chocolate almond brownie, chocolate coconut almond, chocolate covered cherry, chocolate fudge, peanut butter chocolate, s'mores, and sea salt caramel.

The nutritional breakdown for the chocolate fudge flavor is below:

    • 200 Calories

    • 14 g Fiber
    • 1 g Sugar
    • 14 g Protein

    15. NO COW

A hand holding a wrapped no cow protein bar birthday cake flavor.

Coming up next is the no cow protein bar.

Like the bar above, this is has a super low sugar content and has a high amount of fiber, making it another healthy protein bar option.

Also, these are slightly cheaper than the Garden of Life bars, coming out to $2.33 per bar.

What's awesome about the "no cow bars" is they have a wide range of flavors - 16 in total!

Check them out: mint coca chip, cookies n' cream, blueberry cobbler, chocolate glazed donut, chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate chip cookie dough, birthday cake, raspberry truffle, chunky peanut butter, lemon meringue pie, carrot cake, sticky cinnamon roll, s'mores, vanilla caramel, chocolate coconut, and peanut butter chocolate chip.

    • 27 g Carbs
    • 16 g Fiber
    • 1 g Sugars

    16. Raw Rev Glo

A hand holding a wrapped raw rev glo double chocolate brownie batter bar.

Continuing our protein bars list is this one by Raw Rev Glo.

This bar continues the low sugar and high fiber trend as the other two above. That said, if you are looking for a bar with these qualities for a lower price, this an excellent option - each bar is only $1.69.

    17. Lenny & Larry's Complete Cookie

A hand holding a wrapped Lenny and Larry's Complete Cookie birthday cake flavor.

Next up, we have a non-traditional protein "bar," Lenny and Larry's Complete Cookie.

Now, this is one giant cookie - if you are short on time or super hungry, this cookie can serve as an entire meal. But if you don't want to eat the whole thing, you can break it in half and save the rest for later.

And for $1.99 a cookie, this vegan snack is a bargain.

Plus, there are a ton of cookie flavors: apple pie, chocolate chip, birthday cake, double chocolate, peanut butter chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, chocolate donut, lemon poppy seed, choc-o-mint, oatmeal raisin, white chocolate macadamia, and peanut butter.

Of course, if you want to make cookies at home, these quick and delicious vegan cookie recipes have you covered: easy peanut butter cookies, healthy oatmeal cookies, and soft oatmeal raisin cookies.

A hand holding a bag of Lenny and Larry's crunchy chocolate chip cookies

Another non-traditional protein "bar" from Lenny and Larry are these mini crunchy cookies, going for $1.49 a bag.

These cookies are bite-sized, giving you more of a moderate protein snack than the meal-like cookie above.

So, if you like the satisfaction of picking at a snack from a bag, these cookies will hit the spot.

There are only a few flavors of the crunchy cookies to choose from: double chocolate, cinnamon sugar, toasted coconut, and chocolate chip.

The chocolate chip nutrition facts are below:

    • 4 g Fiber
    • 8 g Sugars
    • 14 g Carbs
    • 6 g Protein

    19. Caveman Nutrition Bar

A hand holding a wrapped dark chocolate cashew almond bar.

The following bar on the list is from an all Paleo brand, Caveman.

The bar that I found at the store is their nutritional bar, which has a lower carb and higher fat content. That said, Caveman also offers a high protein bar, but it is not vegan-friendly, so keep that in mind.

Now, there are a few different flavors, but the vegan-friendly flavors are caramel cashew, cherry nut, and cashew almond.

Each bar is priced at $1.49, and although it is a reasonable price, I think there are better options on the list. The cashew almond flavor nutritional breakdown is below.

    • 210 Calories
    • 14 g Fat
    • 16 g Carbs
    • 2 g Fiber
    • 7 g Sugar
    • 5 g Protein

    20. 88 Acres

A hand holding a wrapped 88 Acres triple berry blend seed bar.

Checking in next is this seed bar by 88 Acres - a seed-based company that has all vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free products.

This bar is $1.99, and it is made with all-natural and organic ingredients. And, for a clean eating bar, I think this is a really reasonably priced bar.

Not to mention, the ingredients in this bar make it a perfect sustainable energy bar to give you a little boost during the day.

That said, there are 6 flavors offered: dark chocolate sea salt, cinnamon & oats, triple berry blend, spiced ginger apple, and double chocolate mocha.

And the nutritional breakdown for the triple berry flavor is below:

    • 180 Calories
    • 9 g Fat
    • 23 g Carbs
    • 3 g Fiber
    • 10 g Sugars
    • 5 g Protein

    21. LARABAR

A hand holding a wrapped chocolate chip cookie dough larabar.

Keeping our list going strong is the original Larabar.

I found it in the stores for $1.39, but it is under $1.00 online.

There are 16 fun flavors to choose from including banana chocolate chip, chocolate chip brownie, coconut chocolate chip, and mint chip brownie.

Now, I wasn't able to find it at any stores, but Larabar offers a protein bar with 11g of plant-based protein. So, if you're looking for a higher protein option, definitely give those a look.

Also, Larabars are a terrific option because each bar only contains a few ingredients - really just fruit and nuts.  Along with the 88 Acres bar, this a great bar choice for clean eating that will give you energy from the natural sugars.

Below is the nutrition content for the chocolate chip cookie dough:

An open box of Bobo's lemon poppyseed oat bars.

The next bar on the list is Bobo's Oat Bar - it is vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free.

Like the original Larabar, it is lower in protein than most bars on the list, but Bobo's just came out with a high protein bar with 11g of plant-protein.

I was not able to find it at any stores, but you can find it here.

The oat bars are $2.49 per bar, and the protein bars are only $1.75.

The protein bar flavors are almond butter, banana peanut butter, cherry almond butter, and chocolate chip peanut butter.

However, the oat bars have a little more of a selection with 14 flavors -  original, coconut almond chocolate chip, gingerbread, maple pecan, peach, lemon poppyseed, peanut butter/jelly, apple pie, almond butter, banana chocolate chip, coconut, cinnamon raisin, peanut butter, and cranberry orange.

That said, the lemon poppyseed oat bar nutritional breakdown is as follows:

    23. Health Warrior Chia Bar

A hand holding a wrapped chocolate peanut butter Health Warrior Chia Bar

Finishing off our list of vegan protein bars is this chia bar by Health Warrior.

Coming in at only 100 calories and $1.29 per bar, this is a good option for when you need something small, or a little extra something with lunch.

Also, there are a few flavors to choose from with these bars: coconut, mixed berry, chocolate peanut butter, dark chocolate, and caramel sea salt.

That said, the nutritional breakdown for the chocolate peanut butter is below:

    • 100 Calories
    • 6 g Fat
    • 13 g Carbs
    • 4 g Fiber
    • 3 g Sugar
    • 3 g Protein

    Wrapping it all up

    And there you have it!

A list of vegan protein bars with many different flavors and tastes.

I love eating protein bars as a snack when I'm on the go, need something to hold me over, or don't have time to get a meal.

I hope you found this list helpful, and it makes it easier to find vegan protein bars and have some information on what each one offers.

If you try any of the bars on the list, let me know which ones you like best and what your favorite flavor is!
