Instant Pot Split Pea Soup With Ham

This Instant Pot split pea soup is as comforting and flavorful that a bowl of soup can get. It is filled with tender split peas, fresh veggies, and flavorful ham. And all it takes to make is about 30 minutes from start to finish! Don't be surprised if it becomes one of your new favorite Instant Pot soup recipes.

Ingredients

1 tbsp. Butter

1 tbsp. Garlic, pressed

½ cup Onion, chopped

¼ cup Carrot, chopped

¼ cup Celery, chopped

2 cups Split Peas

1 Piece of Ham Bone (250g)

Bay Leaf

1 tsp. Cumin Powder

1 tsp. Paprika Powder

4 cups Chicken Broth

Salt and Pepper

Optional for serving:

Lemon Juice

Dill

Sour Cream

Instructions

  1. Turn the Instant Pot to “Sauté” mode.
  2. Heat the butter and sauté the onions and garlic until fragrant. Around 5 minutes.
  3. Add the carrots and celery and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
  4. Add the split peas, ham bone, bay leaf, cumin powder, paprika, chicken broth, salt and pepper.
  5. Close the lid and cook at high pressure for 20 minutes. Release the steam and check the split peas - depending on how thick you want them, you can either serve them as they are or add additional chicken broth.
  6. Serve and top with lemon juice, fresh dill and sour cream.
