WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS CHRISTMAS CRACK
Crispy, buttery, salty sweet, and loaded with chocolate. Just a few ingredients, about 15 minutes of work, and it keeps great for gifting.
INGREDIENTS
16 saltine crackers
4 oz. unsalted butter
4 oz.brown sugar
10 oz. dark chocolate (4 oz. white chocolate
Toffee bits
PREP THE PAN & CRACKERS
Line a baking sheet with parchment.
Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, edges touching, to form a solid base.
MAKE THE CARAMEL
In a saucepan, cook butter and brown sugar.
Bring to a boil and cook about 3 minutes, stirring, until smooth and bubbly.
BAKE THE TOFFEE LAYER
Pour the hot caramel over the crackers and spread evenly.
Bake at 350°F for about 6 minutes, until bubbling.
ADD & MELT THE CHOCOLATE
Sprinkle chopped dark chocolate over the hot toffee.
Let sit 2 to 3 minutes, then spread into a smooth chocolate layer.
TOPPINGS & WHITE CHOCOLATE
While the chocolate is soft, add toffee bits or crushed candy canes.
Cool to room temp, then drizzle melted white chocolate over the top.
CHILL, BREAK, & ENJOY
Chill in the fridge until fully set.
Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
