This homemade kettle corn will transport you to the county fair with your first handful. It's deliciously crispy and crunchy popcorn with a sweet and salty flavor that is just addictive. Seriously, you won't be able to stop eating it once you start! And the best part is this kettle corn recipe takes just 5 minutes to make.

Ingredients

Scale

4 tbsp vegetable oil

4 tbsp white granulated sugar

½ cup popcorn kernels

½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Place a wire rack on top of a baking sheet.
  2. Add oil to a large pot with a lid, along with 4-5 popcorn kernels.
  3. Set the pot over medium-high heat.
  4. Cover the pot with a lid. Once all the kernels are popped, remove the lid and add the rest of the kernels, salt, and sugar.
  5. Close the pot with the lid and shake it well.
  6. Keep the pot over the stove, and while holding the lid, shake the pot every 10 seconds. Continue to shake even if you do not hear the popping.
  7. Once the kernels start to pop, shake the lid every 7 seconds - remove the pot, hold the lid, and shake vigorously.
  8. Once you hear about a 2-second break between the pops, remove the pot from the heat. Wait a few seconds and transfer the popcorn to a wire rack.
  9. Spread the kettle corn out with a spatula on the wire rack. Any un-popped kernels will drop through the rack, and you will end with just popped ones.
  10. Serve the kettle corn and enjoy.
