Fried Yuca That Is Better Than French Fries

A bunch of fried yucca strips and a piece of parchment paper on a wooden board.

This fried yuca is super crispy on the outside but soft and almost creamy-like on the inside. If you love french fries you'll love fried yuca. Plus, it's incredibly easy to make, and takes hardly any time to cook!

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound (0.45 kg) of yuca/cassava, peeled

1 tsp. salt

Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the yuca in long strips.
  2. Soak in salted water for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Dry the yuca with paper towels.
  4. Preheat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (180ºC) over medium high heat (you may know it’s ready when you throw inside a piece of bread and it floats and bubbles, it shouldn’t sink or burn too fast.)
  5. Fry yuca in small batches (so you don’t lower the temperature of the oil) until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oil and dry with kitchen towels to remove excess grease.
  7. Serve with your favorite sauce and enjoy!
