What's even better is that this homemade orange chicken takes just 10 minutes to prep, and all you'll need to follow is a few simple steps to make it.

Chicken:

1 lb. skinless and boneless chicken breasts

2 small eggs

¼ cup flour

¼ cup cornstarch

Cooked rice for serving

Salt, to taste

Orange sauce:

¾ cup orange juice

3 tbsp sugar

1 ½ tbsp rice vinegar

1 ½ tbsp light soy sauce

¼ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp ginger powder

¼ tsp red chili flakes

¾ tbsp cornstarch

1 tbsp water

1 tsp orange zest

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 inches of oil in a saucepot over medium-high heat.
  2. Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour with cornstarch and salt.
  4. Beat eggs in a separate bowl. Coat the chicken with eggs then dredge through the flour mixture.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown.
  6. Make the sauce; in a skillet combine orange juice, sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, orange zest, ginger, garlic powder, and red chili flakes.
  7. Bring to a simmer. In a small cup whisk cornstarch with water and add to the orange sauce. Cook until the sauce is gently thickened.
  8. Add in cooked chicken and remove from the heat.
  9. Coat the chicken with the sauce.
  10. Serve chicken warm over rice.
