The BEST Beef Stew Recipe (Just 10 Minutes Of Prep Work Needed)

This beef stew is filled with so much flavor. It combines hearty potatoes, carrots, and juicy pieces of beef stew meat with a beef broth that is seasoned to perfection. However, it's not just super delicious, it's super easy to make too! In fact, all you'll need to invest is about 10 minutes of prep work to make it, and then your stove and pot will basically do all of the work after that.

Ingredients

1 lb. (500g) Stew meat (or chuck roast) cut into cubes

2 tbsp. flour

½ tsp. garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp. olive oil

1 small onion, chopped

2 cups beef broth

½ cup red wine 

3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

3 carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces

3 stalks celery, cut into 1 inch pieces

2 tbsp. tomato paste

1 sprig fresh rosemary

¾ cup peas

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Toss beef in the flour mixture. 
  2. Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven or pot. Cook the beef and onions until browned.
  3. Add beef broth and red wine while scraping up any brown bits in the pan.
  4. Stir in all remaining ingredients except for the peas. 
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour or until beef is tender (up to 90 minutes).
  6. Stir in peas and simmer for 5 more minutes before serving.
