WILTED LETTUCE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

The ingredients for this recipe are pretty simple You need: Leaf lettuce, Green onions, Salt, Black pepper Bacon grease, Vinegar, Water, and Sugar.

Wash the lettuce under cold running water and drain well — excess water on the leaves will dilute the dressing. Tear or chop into bite-sized pieces and place in a large bowl.

STEP 1: PREP THE LETTUCE

Slice the green onions — both the white and green parts — and add them to the lettuce. Season the salad with salt and black pepper to taste.

STEP 2: ADD THE GREEN ONIONS AND SEASON

Combine the bacon grease, vinegar, water, and sugar in a small saucepan. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a full boil over medium-high heat.

STEP 3: MAKE THE HOT DRESSING

Working quickly, carefully pour the boiling hot dressing directly over the lettuce and green onions. Immediately toss well to coat every leaf in the hot dressing.
