WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE

This Mongolian-style ground beef is quick, budget-friendly, and unreal with rice or noodles. Done in one pan. No fuss.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE BEEF

–Ground beef –Green onions –Garlic cloves –Ginger –Dried chilis –Toasted sesame oil

INGREDIENTS FOR THE SAUCE

–Soy sauce –Granulated sugar –Oyster sauce –Honey –Chicken bouillon  –Dark soy sauce  –Shaoxing wine or Mirin – Black pepper –Cornstarch

STEP 1: COOK THE BEEF

Brown the beef in a skillet with oil for about 7-8 minutes. Break it apart as it cooks.

STEP 2: SAUTE AROMATICS

Add the sliced white parts of the green onions, garlic, and ginger; stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the dried chilies and cook for 30 seconds.

STEP 3: MAKE THE SAUCE 

Whisk all the sauce ingredients in a bowl until the cornstarch dissolves. Add it to the skillet and cook to thicken.

STEP 4: BRING IT ALL TOGETHER  

Mix the beef, aromatics, and sauce together in the skillet until everything is well incorporated.

PRO TIPS

–Let the sauce sit out mixed so the flavors can meld  – Add red pepper flakes for heat – Double the sauce if serving over rice or noodles
