FRENCH BUTTER CAKE

It’s soft and tender with a rich, buttery vanilla-almond flavor, and the warm butter glaze soaks right into the cake so every bite is completely addictive.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE CAKE

– Plain yogurt  – Granulated sugar – Eggs – Vanilla extract – Almond extract – All-purpose flour – Baking powder – Salt – Oil – Butter – Water

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray an 8-inch round cake pan with baking spray, then use a paper towel to evenly coat the inside.

STEP 1: PREP YOUR PAN AND OVEN

STEP 2: MIX THE WET INGREDIENTS

In a large bowl, whisk together the yogurt, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth and fully combined.

STEP 3: ADD THE DRY INGREDIENTS THEN OIL

Whisk in the baking powder and salt. Add the flour and whisk just until incorporated. Add the oil and stir until smooth.

STEP 4: BAKE

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until the cake springs back when lightly touched.

STEP 5: MAKE THE GLAZE AND BRUSH ON WARM

Combine the glaze ingredients. Cook over medium heat until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves. Brush the glaze over the top of the warm cake.

- Use room temperature eggs for an even bake and tender crumb - Avoid overbaking by checking the texture at 30 mins - Use Greek yogurt for an extra tender crumb
