Sourdough French Toast | The Best Sourdough French Toast Recipe

This sourdough french toast is quick and easy to make and out of this world delicious to eat. It is crispy yet soft, and has a subtle sweetness that ties it all together. And, honestly, this sourdough French toast is so good it's become a breakfast and brunch staple in our house!

Ingredients

Scale

6 slices of sourdough bread

3/4 cup of milk (180mL)

3 Large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Pinch of salt

2 tbsp butter 

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, add the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk together, and set aside.
  2. Heat butter in a pan over medium-high heat until melted.
  3. Dip the slices of bread into the batter until coated (do NOT soak them), and place in the pan. Pan Fry for 3 to 5 minutes until it is crispy on the outside, then turn over and pan-fry on the other side for another 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Add more butter as needed and continue to cook the extra slices.
  5. Serve topped with maple syrup and fresh fruit.
