Jamaican Fried Dumplings Recipe

Buttery, fluffy, and crisp, these Jamaican fried dumplings are easy to make and impossible to put down. They are an amazingly quick and satisfying appetizer, side dish, or snack. And believe it or not, all you need for these fried dumplings are a few pantry staples!

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups All-Purpose Flour

1 tsp. Baking Powder

1-2 tsp. Salt

¼ cup Butter

½ cup Water 

Oil for frying 

Instructions

  1. Add the flour, baking powder and salt to a bowl and mix.
  2. Add the butter and mix with the flour using a fork to break it, once it has a grainy texture add the water and mix with your hands. 
  3. Once it has begun to form a ball, transfer to a flat surface and knead it for 10 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough in 12 pieces and form them in balls. Flatten those balls with your hands.
  5. Heat the oil over medium in a deep pan to 350°F (180ºC) and fry the dumplings for 4-6 minutes per side until golden brown.
