– Tomato sauce – Ancho chile powder – Cumin – Salt – Black pepper – Chile powder – Garlic powder – Oregano – Cayenne – Sugar – Water – Lime juice

Add the ingredients to a small saucepan. Whisk to combine everything so you have a somewhat smooth sauce.

STEP 1: SIMMER THE BASE

STEP 3: ADD LIME JUICE

Remove from the heat and stir in the lime juice for brightness. You  can taste it at this step and adjust as needed.

STEP 4: COOL & STORE

Let the sauce cool slightly, then transfer to an airtight container or squeeze bottle. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
